Was just wonderin if anyone could confirm the rumor that all access has been denied too both rivers? Apparently Wererhauser has been having big problems with vandalism on there equiptment and land so they're closing it all down. Not even allowing walk in or bike in. If its true we just lost some of the most beautiful summerrun water in the state. frown

It's true. I read a press release from Weyerhauser a month ago stating that, indeed, they had had enough of the vandalism and trashing of the land and equipment.

However, if I remember correctly, on the toutle the main raod will still be open up to the 4100 bridge barring fire danger; then the whole show will be closed.

My buddy was down earlier exploring the green and said there was a gate across the road not to far up from the highway. So, it is possible the upper river will be off limits for awhile. It would be nice if they at least kept the mainline open so all us honest guys don't get punished.

The last few times I have fished the south fork (winter and summer) I have noticed ALOT of trucks loaded with quads and dirtbikes heading upriver to play. This undoubtedly figured into the mess.

Once again, the honest guy takes it in the a** and has to pay the price for the idiots that ruin it. Even at the risk of losing some good fishing water, I can see weyerhauser's point of view and I can't say that I blame them.

Hopefully, things will settle down and they might re-consider....let's hope so!

I must say if it was my land I would have locked it up tight a long time ago. I grew up in Enumclaw and they locked that up a long time ago. The final straw was when some kids did $20,000 damage to some logging equipment one night.
I talked to the guy that used to run the Plum Creek land from the Enumclaw office one time about June or so. They had jeep clubs volunteering to pick up garbage and it had cost them $500,000 at that point of the year just to dispose of it.
Can't say as I blame them one bit.
Weyerhauser up here has a yearly permit you can buy. They have a guard posted at a couple of main access points on the mainline who logs people in and out. Everybody gripes about it, but it beats the heck out of the couple years where it was just plain locked down.

Can't really blame them for closing down the roads. Same thing happened to the areas I do most of my hunting, roads are closed down most of the year but opened for hunting season although this makes it hard to scout out the big bucks in the summer. I think one of the main problems on the SF Toutle is the fact that people did not pay attention to the no camping signs that were up along the area.

anyhow, isn't the 4100 brigde the old deadline? if so, most of the good fishing is from there down anyway. But, if your willing to do some exploring you can find your way into both areas via other routes....

Sounds like the login and log out process will happen on the Green starting in July. It will be only on the weekends if the info I got today was correct. And yes, the SF Toutle is closed to traffic above the 4100 bridge, as are all the lines off it (except the 4700). Lots of traffic on the river today allthough the locals said it was light for the opener!!!

Good! Shut it down! I've been fishing the Green since before the mountain blew and never have I seen anything like I saw yesterday! The Green looked like it looks during the silver run! Every A$$hole from King County had taken a vacation day from Boeing to come down and fish the opener on our precious little Green. There must have been a hundred cars parked at the Hatchery (The most I've ever seen on opening day is five cars) Most of the people were using heavy gear, throwing big spinners, stomping around in the water, letting their dogs swim around in the drift. I couldn't believe it! Some of the biggest A$$hles I've ever fished around were on the Green yesterday! Let them shut it down! I'll still find a way in and maybe it will cut down on some of the idiots who are down there now! IHOOKEM: Don't you think that the Green and the South Toutle get enough people on them without you putting a post up on the God Damn internet about it? mad

Littlezozo I think if you look in the mirror you will see a asshole. Your comments say alot about yourself not everyone from King County or Boeing is an asshole like you say. There are quite a few members on this BB that will take offense of what you said and I will be the first to take you out behind the wood shed and stick my size 14 up your backside.

Wasn't trying to imply that EVERYONE who works at Boeing or lives in King County is an A$$hole.......... I know that's how it sounds, but it's not what I meant. If I've offended you, I'm sorry. However, the Green was a ZOO yesterday, and just about everyone I talked to was down from way up north, and most of them were A$$holes, and a good portion of those guys had taken vacation from their places of employment (I used Boeing figuratively, not literally). Any way, do the math. Seriously though, it was not my intention to start a feud or to make everybody angery, I should've chosen my words more carefully.

Just a personal word to those who might think about finding their way in from the back way to this erea. Don't do it!!!!!! They have the Sherrif on patrol and even if you find an unlocked gate don't go past it!!!!! It is an automatic fine of $500.00 min. like I said even if the gate is open they WILL give you a ticket or take yer rig. I found out the hard way a few months ago. they have it posted so they don't have to close the gates. I won't even get close to their land now.

good luck if you think you can get away with it. I know those roads as well as anybody and can find my way in and out without going through gates. BUT it's closed now and they will get you!!!!!!!!
