You know, it's really wierd, because I'm as much of a Conservative redneck as you can get, but the whole thing is un-settling with me. I agree he deserved everything he had coming to him, as he robbed many people of a lot of dreams and life itself. The odd thing is, the older I get, the more I question capitol punishment. Just a few years ago, I would have told you to cook every dam murderer on death row, and basically I still feel that way. Just that I haven't really come to terms with feeling great about the whole execution thing. Don't know if I could flip the switch or not. I'm sure if my family were involved, I wouldn't hesitate. I'm sure he's meeting his maker right now, and what he went through this morning will pale in comparison. If I'm rambling, I apologize.

Ya know, I've been monitoring most of the top news agencies and no one has mentioned whether any of the 169 people that were killed were magically brought back to life after McVeigh was killed. I for one hope that it works.

Did you know that mysteriously NONE of the Federal Employees' children were in the daycare on April 19th when the bomb went off? They were all strangely absent, kept at home, the day the bomb went off.

Read Hawk's post..... I'm in agreement with him. It's one thing to talk about taking a life, it's another thing entirely to actually do it. I'm sure that Timothy Mcviegh got excactly what he deserved, I'm just not so sure that we had the right to make that decision. Not condoning what he did in any way, he was one sick Mofo, but does it make things better now that he's dead? Do you think that all those poor parents who lost children in that blast actually feel all better now? He does deserve to burn in Hell. But are we any better for sending him there?

McVeigh's death was very peaceful. He basically went to sleep. You can't say that about any of his victims.
If there was real justice his method of execution would have been a stick of dynomite in his ass with a long fuse.

Oregon Fish Chaser: You're basically right, and I'm not argueing that a part of me wouldn't get at least a little bit of satisfaction from seeing him suffer just a bit. I'm just saying that it's awfull ironic that the solution for murder is murder. I'm not saying that it's right or wrong, I'm just saying that I have some serious questions about the moral issues of capital punishment.

Like all of you I feel that Timothy did get what he deserves. But like Hawk, as I get older, I question whether we are intended to make such judgments. Good news is that there is now once less angler, more for the rest of us, lol.

I have to agree that I am beginning to become more anti-death penalty. I think there are alot of uses for convicted killers and terrorists. We should put their skills to use for the good of the general public. Like helping uncover land mines, or testing Mad Cow beef, or injecting them with cancer and trying new drugs on them, experimental surguries, fire resistant clothing. The possibilities are endless. Any other ideas?

I say we fry them all that are on death row...I myself don't feel I should be supporting them..It cost way to much to keep them imprisoned...I say if someone is convicted of murder they have 72 hrs to take care of there affairs and they are put to death. If they killed someone they deserve DEATH !!!!!!!!

Hey Timberman....tell us how you REALLY feel.. BTW-- I think punks like McVeigh are the ones we shouldn't put to death. Too easy of an out for what they did. He should spend the rest of his life in a pitch black cell, by himself. Now, all the rest of these jackoffs that have been arrested 17 times for dealing crack and beatin' up their ho's, kill 'em. When someone has been given 15 chances to prove they can be a productive member of society, and 15 times prove that they cannot, get rid of them. Ruthless, yes. Does it save a lot of money and deter others from behaving this way, yes. OUT!!

I have to agree with TimberMan on this one. Do you all realize how expensive it is to keep and house these violent criminals???? What's the point of letting someone rot in jail? I use the term "rot" loosely as jail life isn't all that bad for most of these people. As a Federal Tax Payer, I'd gladly chip in 50 cents for the bullet, but that would be it. Parker's new "One Strike and your Shot" law! "But officer, I was only going 2 miles over the speed limit!" <BLAM!> Hmmmmm, maybe the law needs some ammendments!
