Travis,

I'm glad to see you found yourself a driftboat!! I just wanted to thank you again for responding to my post and your interest in the driftboat I was selling. When it came right down to it, I simply couldn't get rid of it wink I'm sure you understand laugh If you make it down to the south end sometime give me a shout.

Hey trav,
14 ft. boat, I'de go with 9.5 or 10's.
I've got 10 ft. sawyers at yeagers ten years ago and thier doing just fine. They were 100 bks. then but now I see thier 329.00.
For that money i'de go cateract or calisle.
I'm sure the rest of these boys have better advise and i'm curious myself.
Also, get and carry a spare at all times and spare oarlocks, wire and duct tape. That stuff can come in real handy and the tape makes a great cup holder. If you see me on the river and need tape, I've got tape, boy do I have tape.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

FLICK,

Don't take Redneck with you along with all that tape, or any livestock along the river will be awfully nervous! eek

catcher,

I wouldn't go longer than 9 ft. with a 14 ft boat. You can't be the Cataracts......

I would imagine 9 foot oars would be just right for a 14' boat.
I run 9.5 footers on my 16' boat. Ive tried both 9' and 10' oars. The 9 foofooters were all right and the 10s were too much. If you can afford them, Get Cataracts. I love mine.

I have a 14 footer and my 9' oars are perfect could even go with a 8.5, but I wouldn't go over nine unless you plan on upgrading to a 16'.

I run 9 footers on my 16 foot Willie with 54 inch bottom. They work well especially when things get tight. I was thinking of going to 9 1/2 footers for my next set but I will probably stay with 9s and buy Cataract composite oars. I run Sawyer Lights now and have had no problems with them. It is hard to imagine a 14 foot boat with anything more than a 9 foot oar. The shorter the oars, the less room you take up, the easier they are to move, etc. The only reason I would go to longer oars is if I knew I was going to be on very large open rivers exclusively and even then I would probably go no more than 9 1/2 foot oars.
