Hey guys its time for a new pair of wadding boots. I am looking at either Grub Creek Felt Soled. Danner River Griper Felt Soled with studs. Or Simms with studs. I have always had regular felt soled boots but the felt and studs look nice to. The only thing that I am worried about is being in an Aluminum Sled or Drift boat.
Tell me what kind I should get.
Thanks

Studs are great ,but they will chew up the bottom of an aluminum boat. You can combat this with outdoor carpeting or a rubber mat.

The Simms Guide Model boot with felt are the way to go.I've had mine for a couple of seasons as well as some of my fishing buds and they have held up great.

The Grub Creek boots look great but I know of three guys that have all had rivets pop out on the D rings for the lacing frown

The other option is to go to the Simms Lightweight boot. They are felt with removable studs so you can get the best of both worlds.

My bud has a pair of the grub creek and the rivets popped out right out of the box, since he's too lazy to take them back he duct tapes them every trip now. I personally hav ethe Danners with the studs and love them (have for 6 years now), it is loud walking on asphalt or in a boat (which I dont do much anyway) but I've never even come close to losing traction, Good luck and stay away from the grubbers.

Personally I love the studded type of wading boot. I go through a pair of the Danners a year. They have great traction, but when they dry they harden, shrink, and sometimes it can be tough to get them on, unless they are wet. The only issue with them is the material they are made out of is not durable enough. They break down on the insides of the feet and start collecting gravel, which takes extra time because you have to clean them out on occasion when fishing.. I am going to try the wading boots that Jim Teeny has out on the market, they are studded and made out of a neoprene material. They don't shrink and harden and they are extremly light to wear.
