Actually I'm asking the questions and your answering them. I fished with someone who prefers to run a 5ft leader off of a black hot n tot to spin n glo. I have heard another person say they like to run a silver/green hot n tot with a 3ft leader to spin n glo. Does the lenght of leader really matter? I assume the colored one is being used as a plug and attractant for the spin n glo and bait. And, that the black is just for diving the bait. I would like to get some feedback before I rig up some spin n glos.

Matt

Paint the Hot-n-Tot flat black and use a 4 foot leader. You want the fish to take the hook, Not the hookless plug.
Make sure you use a quality barrel swivel on the belly ring of the plug to attach the leader to. I find a #7 barrel swivel works better than a bed chain.
When fishing clear water, dont use a spin glo. Go with a sandshrimp all by itself. The steelhead just love that.
