Could some one tell me some of the locations of the boat put-ins on the Lewis river? I'd like to float a section of the river for silvers with my drift boat, but have never fished the river before.

You can put in at the upper hatchery right below Merwin dam and drift down to the lower hachery. But the fish may not be that high up the river yet. Or you can put in at the lower hatchery and drift to the golf course or island ramp. I like the lower hatchery to the island ramp float alot lots of nice water to fish the put in and take out is on the north side of the river. Go up thru Woodland on the Lewis river road. You will see a sign for the ramp if you see the Echo RV park you have gone to far. If you drift to the island ramp take a close look at the river so you do not miss it on the way down. you will have to push your boat just a bit.
At the hatchery you may need a 4x4 to get your boat in ( lots of loose gravel ) Good luck. smile

kalamabama,
I was going to ask the question that fishlips asked. Is there usually a lot of sleds on that stretch of river? And what are some of the does and donts on the Lewis? I know each river has its own set of unwritten rules of ethics.

I've been fishing the North Fork of the Lewis for nearly 20 years. There are no special rules that I know of. This is a sledding river for the most part and there are relatively fewer drift boats than on some rivers. Most of us sledders try to yield to the drift boats since they can't run back and hammer a drift over and over like we can. It is easy water and a great place to fish. This year apparently we are able to keep fall chinook, and that is a first for the last several years.
