The report from this morning at the meathole on the lewis was 10 boats and about 20 hook ups. This eve we fished from 6:00 to dark and boated 8 silvers. There was only one other fish hooked amongst the other 6 boats or so.

Just a few silvers showing at the Toutle. One small shot of silvers came in monday but didn't hang around to long. rolleyes

More chinook then silvers are being caught right now. Chinook must be released in the lower Cowlitz. Silvers should be in by next week.

Good luck,

Cowlitzfisherman

Is the taste of the bait worth the sting of the hook???? laugh

I fished both the N.F.L. and the Kalama this past weekend. I picked up one fresh coho on the NFL (orange spinner) but nothing on the Kalama. The fish are real spotty on the Kalama. After they run the gauntlet of snaggers at the RV park they are real spooky. I fished several holes throughout the river with eggs and spinners but came up empty. The WDFW fish trap is doing well. They lifted 256 fall Chinooks on Saturday but only about 50 on Sunday. There were plenty of fish around the trap on Monday.

The highlight for yesterday (9/3) was seeing a herd of five elk (all cows) along the Kalama just downstream of Rainbow Park. They came out of the cottonwoods and milled around the riverbank for a minute or two before trotting off downstream in the direction of the highway. I wondered where they were going since I-5 is less than a mile away! If I had been standing 30 yards downstream, they've run me over. Hope they didn't get too close to the RV park, one of those snaggers might have tried to nail one by the ear with a corkie and #08 hook..... wink wink
