Are there any silvers in any of the Port Angeles area rivers. I am travelling up there tomorrow for a morning appointment and thought I'd do a little fishing before I head back. Please email me with info if you don't want to post. This will probably be my only trip up that way this year so don't worry about me camping in your secret spot day after day eek eek eek

Canyon Man all of the Port Angeles rivers are closed for salmon right now. No secret ...I'd hit the Quil. It's rainin big time and there's going to be a huge number of silvers headin up. Downside is your goin to be playing dog pound all day long...upside is its a weekday so most of the snaggers will be somewhere else. LOL!
I'd fish above Rodgers St to get the best of the chromers.

Like gooose said, all the PA rivers are closed; actually, I think the Elhwa is open, but it's fly fishing only.

I fished the Quilcene this morning, there were lots of chums in there, but not many silvers. Didn't see any bright silvers at all. It might be better later today after the high tide, the river has come up a bit and the tide might bring them in.

Good luck.

If you're going to fish the dungenous, one of my favorite spots is the small hole just above the duck hunting property that's posted. Actually there's 3 small holes that have a little depth and the fish stack in there in lower water. You'll have to compete with the local snaggers to get a spot but some good eggs will make for a day that you won't forget. Remember your about 1/2-1 mile above tidewater and these fish are full of pi$$ and vinegar.
I'd say that this is one of my favorites around that time of the year, the fish are big too. I put a silver on the shore there last year that was about 18-19 lbs and chrome. You ought to have seen all the snaggers eyes when we released that one!
The elwah is another great one down near tidewater, there's a hole there with a big rock in it just out of tidewater, the indians will have nets in it most of the time but that doesn't matter just fish eggs under a bobber or driftfish them. We had a hayday there also..

I was just down at the Elwha yesterday fly fishing. Saw one indian snagging and it looked like they were just about ready to put there nets in. There gonna net all the fresh fish that come in after this rain mad. Does anyone know if they have net schedule posted for the Elwha?

Amazingly, the coho haven't been moving up the river since the rains, the river is ussually at 600 cubic feet of water, but was at 350 cfs before the rain and 500 after. Its just too early for the fish to be moving up.

Here is a site for tribal fishing schedules, including Lower Elwha Klallam: http://www.pnptc.org/regs/

Also, using handheld gear to snag, while distasteful to the sportsman, is legal under tribal regs. Tribal members don't fish for sport.
