Fellas,
I've strictly been a fly fisherman but have just been turned on to salmon/steelhead fishing so please bear with me. I'll be fishing the Sky or Sno this weekend from a drift boat and was wonder what the best setup is. Should I use eggs under a bobber? Drift it on the bottem with a pencil weight? pull a plug? Throw flies, lures? I'd ask the guy taking me down the river but he's also new to salmon/steelhead fishing. Any suggestions would be great. Also, any suggestions on where to put in and out would be appreciated.

Thanks Guys

Sure.

Vague questions deserve vague replies.

PS. Narrow your questions down and be specific. Don't ask for all the marbles, as you won't get them.

Yes!
Fishing is an art. Why limit your pallet. Any of those methods are likely to produce. Which are you most comfortable with? We usally have a pole, each, setup to pull plugs and/or divers, one or more for drifting and the occaisional rod set up for jigs/bait.

I haven't been on the Sky yet this fall, but Ben Howard to Monroe would be a good bet.

Sorry Parker,
I hear that bobber fishing is a good way to go with eggs. I'm not sure how much leader I should have under the bobber. Also, do I need some weight under the bobber to keep the eggs down ? The other question is I've never drifted the Sky. Is it a easy float ? Where should I put in and out?

Hi Flyrod;I'm not too familiar with the boat launches on the Skykomish but maybe this may help. http://boat.iac.wa.gov/launches.asp?county=Snohomish

Hi Flyrod,
Ben Howard to Lewis St. in Monroe would be a good start. Take your time. Cast Dick Nites like drift gear. Take your time, it is a prety short float but pretty mellow with some good holes. Should be some silvers around. Good Luck.
