I would like to get some info on fishing the Snohomish river for Silvers. I usually Fly Fish. But I would like to try my hand at fishing for Silvers. Would like to know what gear to use. Spoons, spinners, corkies. Its been a long time since I've fished with gear. And as being retired I have all this time on my hands with nothing to do. Any help would be nice. smile

For Silvers I would definitely stick with hardware or flies. For me, corkies have never been that productive. I usually fish a big spinner, size 4 usually a Flash 'n' Glow in the deeper holes of the Snohomish. However, the entire river is pretty good salmon holding water, so the biggest challenge is just finding the fish. Backtrolling can be effective. Now should be a pretty good time for the Sno, but pretty quick here they'll be movin up into the Skykomish and Snoqualimie. The Sno is also a blast for Pinks and Chums, in September and November.

I've been doing well with small Dick Nites and wiggle warts, albeit trolled from a boat. The recent high water seems to have moved the fish upriver from the Everett area, where I had been fishing - time to go look for them again.

I'm also a fly fisherman, but we couldn't get them to chase flies, I don't know why. They seem to be moving differently than when I have taken them well on flies. I think the water may have been too warm, compared to placed in Alaska where I have done well. They just are not as aggressive to lures as I would hope. We haven't even been able to get them to hit a cleo, which is a go-to silver spoon for me.

Use small, deep, and slow presentations. There are fish near the surface as well, but my theory is that they're not biters.

Thank you for your advice. I have a few spinners and I will try them. Can't afford a boat,so I have to fish from the bank. If fishing the Sky is better I will try that but aren't the fish kinda dark as they are closer to the Hatchery. I assume most of the fish are Hatchery fish. Jim. wink
