Could you get a aluminum flat bottom drift boat?

the reason I ask is out at my summer cabin we have fished from a fiberglass sail boat turned into a dingy, and it rows so easy, it is the nicest rowing craft I have ever seen. BUt, it has passed it's prime and is about to have a hole worn through the bottom from use. I was thinking of an aluminum flat bottom drift boat because, it would probobly row pretty good, and since my grandpa still likes to get out from time to time he could drag it up the beach if he was by himself.
