I like IZORLINE platinum. Very tough and amazingly strong. Casts well. It's cheap enough that you don't mind replacing it. When I used fireline, the coating on the line got all crackly - is was like running a rat-tail file through the rod guides (maybe only happens in salt water?). Also the clothspin-like downrigger releases wont hold onto fireline.

Creekwalker: I tried Perfexion at the beginning of summer. The stuff is the awful. Cost me two nice summer steelies. Sure, it handles great -- it's limp, it's easy to cast -- but it is a weak line. I will never use it again. I've been using the Rapala Finesse line on my spinning reel and really like it.

For me, the Izorline Platinum has over-taken the Maxima Ultra Green. Just as strong but slightly thinner and less spool pop off from stiff line memory. Maybe not quit as abrasion resistant, but I clip off the end of the line when needed and only re-fill half the spinning reel spool periodically. Good stuff!

Edit: BTW, I am soon going to give the Fireline and Power Pro superbraids a try in about 20 lb. or 30 lb. rating on spinning reels. I prefer the braids on my level winds for most of my fishing.

After reading some positive reviews on Perfexion I decided to try it for summer steelies. Never again! That stuff sucks! Very low knot strength and the 8# broke in very unexpected places. Stay Away.
