Fords or Chevys? Is it possible for you to narrow it down a little?

FJ...out.

I fish with lamiglas, but only because I'm just a poor student who can't afford a loomis. I steal my dads when I get the chance, but thats not all that often. Lamiglas's are nice rods but do not compare to a loomis. Just my thoughts.

I think it all depends on the rod.
I Like the Loomis rods much better in general but some of the rods made by Lami are really nice;
For about the same price as a GL3 try a Sage baitcaster or Spining, well worth it.

Allstar makes a great rod too! I have always been a loomis fan, allstar is right up there. I like em' both but the allstars are a better value without sacraficing quality at all.

It depends. Do you want to fish with it or use it for a tent pole?

Just kidding. You can't beat a GL3 for drift fishing, mine makes my Lami's feel like broom sticks.

Just to complicate matters more, I had my first chance to try out an Allstar rod last week. It was the 4-10#, 9 footer. Very nice. Nicer than my lami's, at about half the price of that, one fifth the cost of a GL3.

Still not as nice as a GL3, though. Close.

All right, Justin, time for you to chime in about the Allstars. I wouldn't mind hearing more about them after using one last week.

Fish on...

Todd.

I just got a Lamiglas(G1000) 8-12 it is the best rod I have ever used. I like it so much better then the str1083, that was my favorite rod before that. I also have never had any problems with the Lamiglas company and haven't heard anything. Loomis is a good rod too, it is up to how you like to feel the bottom or however you fish.

I own 3 Lami's and 2 G Loomis rods. I have a matching rod from each mfg in this set. Without a doubt the G Loomis is the better rod. Much more sensitivity. In a drift I can feel whether I'm going over a rough rock or smooth rock, where with the Lami it's just going over a rock. Needless to say, for the rod I have a match on, the Lami rarely gets used.

I think the GL2's are a great all around rod, whether spinning or for drift fishing. I just purchased a new IMX Str1082 and love it. Its a great summer steelie rod, but it has enough mojo to battle chums and chrome silvers. The GL3's are unreal, but pretty pricey.

GLoomis in my opinion is king, but there are other setups out there that come close. (lamiglass) It just depends on what you are looking for...

Todd-
1/5 of a GL3?? Either you are paying to much for GL3's or too little for AllStars. wink

I fished both the Lami's (G-1000's) and the Loomis (IMX's) and am now fishing with an All Star STR 1083 rod I picked up from Superfly. Got to say they are better than the lami's and have just as much feel as the loomis. That and they cost less than half of what a loomis will run ya. My .02
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

I own 12 lami's,some in G-1000 / Certified pro &
the espirit model's.I have two loomis rod's.The loomis rod that I use most is the GL3 9'6" 4-8
boondockin rod, very nice rod I must say.How ever
I prefere the lami's over all.The price and preformance and return policy rock's in my opinion
Some of the loomis rod's just feel to spongey for my like's.Like it was mentioned above it is a Chevy / Ford thing,I'll stick with the chevies.
Good luck,

Rainshadow
I have fished everything in every model, and I perfer to fish Rainshadow blanks
Price is the last reason.
The blanks are straight! Flip it over and look down the other two mentioned above! confused
Rainshadow are light and very sensitive
great warranty, no finish cosmetic blems,
small butt/tip dia. Great action, a wonderful taper.
Warranty is fast (one week) Rainshadowblanks come in every model (1263 on the way)

And the last reason, they are much cheaper!
