I’m looking at rods and I see brand names as well as smaller custom builders all using IM6 or IM7 rod blanks. So what make one better than the other. Is it just the eyes, finish, handleor name that can make up to $100.00 or more in differences of their cost? Or is it something else like the warranty. Had a lamiglass with an IM6 in one hand and a Guide classic(Fred Meyers) also with an IM6 in the other. Other than the finish they felt the same. If you closed your eyes you could not tell which was which. However if you look at the price tag you could see $65.00 in difference. I don't mind paying more as long as I'm getting something for the money.

Stick with the IM6. IM7 translates to more money. Rod taper is what you should really be considering. Fast taper=sensative Slow taper=strength or stiffness. I have 2 poles of each with the same rating and i can't tell the diference, so now i have 2 extra poles.LOL
