Any action happening in the upper Green River. I live about 3 miles from Icy Creek and 3 miles from Kanasket-Palmer State Park. I thought about heading out for a couple of hours this weekend.

I have the duty weekend and am on call so I can't wander too far.

I'd appreciate any e-mail on this subject.

Ay Captain, check out the washingtonlakes.com forum wink We have been discussing the Green for a couple of weeks now in that forum. I fish the Green every chance I get. Chums, Steelies, I don't care. This weekend should be good! cool
Check it out.

TJ, I checked out the Green this afternoon @ FG. The water was low and emerald green. PERFECT! wink
I did not fish but noticed a lot of chums still. The word steelies was pretty grim. frown Might try Kanaskat-Palmer also.

BJK, where are you talking about when you say "middle river"? Are you refering to the golf course area?

Carl, better ask an old timer, they'll know where the middle river is.

Carl, the golf course would be a good place to start...me and a friend each got a steelhead across the street from the pro shop a few days ago. there are also plenty of holes from the 277th bridge downstream to 259th to check out...its pretty much packed on the weekends, but during the week you've got most of the river to yourself

KSR, Thanks for the tip. I have driven the River Road a couple of times. Didn't see a "hole" lot going on. Maybe it is just gettin' going.
What tackle setup do you use? confused

i got mine drifting a sandshrimp tail with a small corkie. ive been using pink corkies but ive seen other colors work too so i dont know if color is that important, maybe as long as its bright?? the water was high and faster than normal of course so we had to use more weight. i used a 2" slinky with bb shot and that was about right to keep it just bouncing along, although i think im gonna try a bullet sinker like you said in your other post and see how that works out. as far as the river road goes, did you stop and check anything out? from the soccer park down to 277th, you can park anywhere and walk down through the woods to the river. there are dozens of trails and access easy to find.

Today, I fished @ Flaming Geyser first. No steelies or chums confused
Where did all of the fish go?
Later I went up to Kanaskat-Palmer, gate was closed! Probably because the wind was really whippin', they must not want any trees to fall on any fisherman.
I noticed a pretty big crowd at Metzlers but did not stop to check it out.
Finally, I stopped by Hwy 18 and talk to a couple of gents and they pretty much experienced the same fishing I did.....ZILCH! frown

it has been slow, ive caught only 1 fish in my last 6 trips to the green. its just so easy to fish there since its only a 15 minute drive away.

Heard of some fish in the middle river yesterday and they have been getting fish at Metzlars and a few up at Geyser. The area around Palmer has been slow so far.

Stopped by Kanaskat Palmer late this morning and saw half a dozen steelies being carried out by the hatchery. They are in there. smile

Judging from all of the filleted carcasses at the Soos Creek launch some guys are catching some steel. There was one carcass that must have been close to ten pounds before it was filleted. I am guessing the guys that are drifting in boats are doing the best right now. cool

Damn Curt, You ROCK! Take me with you? I need to land a steelie this year. I also need someone to show me how to catch steelies. I have just about mastered all the other fish.
