1083's and 1143's with Semetre and Stradic 4000's on them. The bigger reel is heavier but the line capacity is enough for the big nates and cross over duty for Springers and Fall fish. The 2000's are fine for 1141's, 1082's and comparable rods but they almost feel too light on these 2 bigger rods. The 4000's balance them nicely. Always spooled with Fireline!

I have got several people into their first steelie this year by letting them use my 1141s Allstar rods. They are super sensitive and I think that helps with the rookies. I also love using them myself with light line and little chunks o' pencil lead. Very versitle rods too as they are killer for boondoggin'/sidedrifting, driftfishing, light float 'n' jigs, and they work great for the bird's nest prone rookies that have trouble with the baitcaster. Shimano 2000's on all of mine. Dumping the 2000 Sedonas and Saharas that I have and switching to the Stradics as soon as I get blessed by the money fairy. The Stradic is a lot smoother and worth the extra $$$ in my opinion. It's also funny as hell watching the my rookie friends get their butts kicked by brats on that light little 1141s ! Definately move up to the 1025's and 1084's for nates so they don't get played too long. [ 12-20-2001: Message edited by: Kid Sauk ]

Hey Crome i just built two 1141 rainshadows, and they are up for sale! They have sic guides and gloomis handle kits! Never been fished, and i am asking $175 each... just to cover the cost of materials. I like the rod, but the rainshadow 1141 is inbetween the 1141 and 1143 loomis i thought they were gonna be a little lighter. I have enough 1143's. The rainshadow quality is exceptional. Since the take over of loomis, i have seen a hugh drop in wuality in both blanks and production rods! If you or anyone else is interested drop me an e-mail. peaceout. e.

TH Custom rods can set you up with a Rainshadow blank wrapped in any style! 1141's are fine for brats but if you C & R you'll think twice about that cowlitz rod! Allstars and Rainshadows are both made at the Allstar factory. but Allstar is a lesser grade of graphite made on a different mandrel! Probably more durable but not as sensative!

I have 3 setups for steelhead spinning rod fishing. A 10 1/2' All-Star line rated 6 to 10lb, a 9 1/2' GLoomis GL2 line rated 6 to 12 lb, and a TH Custom Rod with Rainshadow blank that's 9 1/2' and line rated 8 to 17 lb. for dual purpose heavy steelhead and lite chinook fishing. All nice rods! I use Shimano Symetries on 2 of them and an Okuma 30 on the GLoomis rod. Works great for float fishing jigs, pink worms, or bait. And they do very well as as alternate from my casting rods for drift fishing.

According to Don Mook who actually builds the Rainshadow blanks in the AllStar factory, they are not. and Bob Batson who owns Batson Ent. who distributes the Rainshadow blank they are not and never were intended to be the same blank. The tapers are different and the matierals used to build the blanks are different. I gauarntee it !!! Call Batson Ent. at 360-681-2381 they will give you the whole insight. Have a very safe and Merry Holiday season. TH www.thcustomrods.com

Personally, I don't see why anyone needs to use a high-end graphite rod when it comes to spinning gear. IMX for spinning just boggles the mind.
To me, in spinning rods, anything past a GL2 is a waste of money.
I'm quite happy with my pair of GL2 1082's and 2000 Shimano reels. They are tough, they work, and I wouldn't cry too much if they were lost, stolen, dropped in the water, or snapped in half.
If I end up replacing them, I'd go with the Allstar Elite line and not Loomis.

This is a reel no brainer for me. Once you fish the 9'6 lamiglas certified pro XJS96 you will never change. (you can quote me on that) It is bendy enough to fling a light spinner or jig setup, has a classic full rod length bend that makes use of the full 9'6" length for those days you just happen to hook a massive chinook or feisty chum. In short, it is a great, versatile rod at a very reasonable price.
For reels, I prefer Shimano Stradic 4000's spooled with maxima ultragreen or Izorline 12 lb.
I witnessed a strange one the other day. I rarely fish Blue Foxes, although I know many consider them Gods' gift, but I witnessed 2 very nice steelies caught on 2 successive casts with #4 silver blade hot pink spinners. I shook my head in amazement. A 2 cast limit makes one take note...

Well, the only information I can give you is that Bob's Sporting Goods in Longview do not have the Allstars anymore. Was in there yesterday and they had one long Allstar rod left. It was really light action-almost like a fly rod blank with casting guides on it. Not really what I was looking for. Talked to more than one guy there and they said they are no longer going to carry Allstars.
I would suggest going to see that guy fishhead5 that posts on this board. He apparently lives up in Shelton and sells Allstar rods. Maybe he's one of the only places that sells those Allstars anymore? I still haven't been up there to see his rods myself, but someday...

Anyone looking for allstar rods can find them on the internet, enter key word "allstar elite" and you'll find lots of links, great prices too! also check three rivers marine in woodinville they do carry them but they sell them quick, I use an allstar 1024 right along side my gl3 1024 and if I was blindfolded I'd be stumped! I also like their 901 plug rods, in my opinion you can't buy a better rod dollar for dollar

You cant beat a rainshadow. TH has done me right twice with a 1084C and a 1141s. just as or more sensitive thana GL3 and tougher than a GL2. Ive put my 1084 through way too much abuse. ive fallen on it dropped on the rocks rolled it up in my car window banged it all around the boat. And its still catchin fish. Ive had to ben a few guides back into normal position but they are still fine. Find out for yourself and buy a rainshadow.
