Help, just bought a new bird dog pup, and need help giving her a name.

I like names that are short and sweet,I've had a Blitz, a Sage and now I've got Hidy, they seem to carry well in wind and rain when we are hunting ducks,if you hunt with a buddy who has a dog make sure the names sound completly different it's a real pain if they don't

I like keeping real it simple....current lab is nearly cream white colored so it was White Dog. Previous lab was black so guess what...Black Dog. One before that was yellow so guess what....Mike. BTW do not chase a Black Dog up a residential street in Seattleat O'dark thirty in the morning calling it bad names !

I'm with Dave. The name will come out of something unique to your interests and her character.

I have a black cat named Shadow for obvious reasons.

I also have a cat named Springer who purrs like a Harley springer with some straight pipes.

I've always tried to use 1 syllable names. Lu, Em, Oz, Sid. Do you have an 'ex' you don't like or a sister-in-law that's a pain in the ____.
Make sure the name doesn't rhyme with commands like -- down, stay, whup, no, fetch, come, here, etc. etc..
Have fun in the 'chewing stage'.......

I had a beautiful chocolate lab named Sadie.She was an awsome bird dog.Loved to hunt.I know you are supposed to stick to single syllable names for hunting dogs but it is a pretty name.

I agree with Dave.Hang out with her and it will make sense. I have two,Bear and K.C, and I think of new names all the time.
I was hiking down a trail over in Goos'es country with 3 kids 5,7,and 15yr.'s old and thier mother.I had the youngest on my shoulders,and hadn't looked up for awile,I looked up to check on bear,my lab and saw her way down the trail coming back my way.I put my head down and continued strugling down the trail when I realised something,that was not bear,that was a bear!I looked up again and sure enough the bear cub was running wide open with my bear on her heals.I immediatly started yelling, BEAR HEEL,BEAR HEEL.I felt stupid!luckily my dog is pretty obediant and passed the cub up and heeled.The cub without my dog on her tail cut back into the woods and we bunched up and got the hell out of there!!!

A male bull pintail is called a sprig. Always liked that name.

Sex. Name the dog sex. There are a string of jokes you can run with if you do it.

One syllable names are the way to go. Just make sure they don't rhyme with basic commands such as no, or sit. My three labs (males), named as follows. Mick, Sly, Tex.

I have a kick butt hunting lab and I can tell you one thing right now, you dont want to be yelling a long name all day. keep it short, one or two syllables.

Sexy or Babe would be my top choices for my next feemale.
