I use the 1021 for trolling herring and kwikfish, anything that requires 15-20lb test. I love the action of the rod, and will fish it up to 6 ounces of lead. If you don't have one then get one, it's my favorite salmon rod.. By the way over the last 10 years I've broke it about 5 times. As ryan said it does taper quick into the tip section. Another rod to look into is the 1 piece HSR981 it's 8'2" and rated 10-20, and also for the bigger water the HSR982 it's 8'2" and rated 12-25, I'll use this on big water kwikfish and ocean fishing kings. I did get spooled in Sitka by a king on this rod with straight 25... Keith [ 01-23-2002: Message edited by: stlhdr1 ]
