Chrome/22,you can't compare the power rating on LOOMIS HSR [HOT SHOT ROD] VERS STR [STEELHEAD ROD] an STR1141S is my favorite boondogging rod, rated for 8#. HSR1021C is my favorite plug rod at Wind river and diver rod on the Solduc for springers, where I run 20# or 30# fireline. They both have 1 power ratings, but they are not even close.

All you had to say was HSR. I was thinking STR and the #'s didn't work. Know alot of guys like the Loomis plug rods, most are 1 pc. rods with extra-fast actions, right? Told some use the MBR 7' 10" gl-2 (magnum bass rod) must make the "good ol boys" right proud laugh

Chrome/22 you nailed it, MBR941C is a great plug rod, I've used then for the last 5 years in my guide service for Coho & Steelhead plug rods.Last year I sold my 1st four 941s and bought 4 new ones in the new merlot color, very nice, and what a great price ,they retail for $135.00.Not all LOOMIS cost a lot....great rod .....great price. cool

Timber Man is always tough to follow, think he's washing down those pain pills with a little hooch laugh R.R., sounds like the new mbr 941c is the way to go for plugg'in, I'll take a look at one today going to the Sportsman Show. ST-1, Do you use that hsr 1021 as a drift rod on nates, any breakage problems??......Chrome Out cool

I use the 1021 for trolling herring and kwikfish, anything that requires 15-20lb test. I love the action of the rod, and will fish it up to 6 ounces of lead. If you don't have one then get one, it's my favorite salmon rod.. By the way over the last 10 years I've broke it about 5 times. As ryan said it does taper quick into the tip section.
Another rod to look into is the 1 piece HSR981 it's 8'2" and rated 10-20, and also for the bigger water the HSR982 it's 8'2" and rated 12-25, I'll use this on big water kwikfish and ocean fishing kings. I did get spooled in Sitka by a king on this rod with straight 25...
