Loc: Portland Oregon,
I've been comparing lamiglas TI2000 titanium 6-15lb and GLoomis str1084c 8-12lb. What are the rainbow blanks I've read EGGS and TH post about? Who produces them? What type of graphite? how many modulous? Is there a website with more info, or where can I look at one in portland? Our sportsman show is coming up feb. 5 thanks.

It's actually Rainshadow blanks since they are made here in Sequim, WA and we are in a rainshadow. They are made by Batson Enterprises. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong TH) that the cheaper blanks they make are 43 million modulus which is the same as a GL3. I'm not sure if they make high modulus gear rods, but my dad has a Rainshadow high modulus 9wt fly rod. I've got a couple Rainshadow rods and they are really nice for the money. I built my dad a 1084 spinning rod. Very nice rod and it was cheap.

The upper model is 72 million modulas and is pretty much the same as a IMX. For the money this sensitive of a rod cant be beat by Loomis or Lamiglas. The 43 million modulas is teal green in color and the 72 is the same as a IMX. The high end rod is made in most popular Loomis configurations. The rods are spun at All Star Rods in Texas but are marketed by the name Rainshadow and Bob Batson in Squim. As far as a rod Demo I dont think you'll find a complete because there blanks that need to be wrapped by someone. Travis can you help?
All the rainshadows (72 million modulas)Ive used and own are as light and sensitive as a Loomis IMX. They seem a tad slower too. For instance the 1084's we compared last year seemed more mod-fast than fast like the loomis 1084. I have a 1143 in Loomis and Rainshadow. The Rainshadow is lighter and a bit more sensitive but a hair slower too. I think this is good though as more and more rods becoming popular are a tad on the slower side than the fast or ex-fast side. Slower is more forgiving and the fish will usaully have more time to pick it up and hold it longer with the slower rods. (i.e. the introduction of the 1141 and 1143 by loomis for boondoggers).
I have a few if your ever up in Tacoma/Seattle, Forks or the Kitsap Penn. Or anyone else for that matter that wants a Demo around those areas.

Bob you dont have all the fact's right on rain shadow.... They do not make a 71 million graphite, the highest is 51 million and the salmon and steelhead series is also available in mate finish. Rainshawon blanks are made in the all star factory, but with much different materials. As fare a quality goes, i have yet to find a more consistant product, they beat loomis hands down!

It looks like most if not all of the information has been correct. laugh
The Rianshadow blanks are not built in WA, but are distributed by Batson Ent. (the most knowledgeable and wonderful people I have met in the blank industry) smile
They are made in the All-Star factory but ARE NOT the same blank, different material, different mandrels..
The Salmon/steelhead line that Rainshadow is currently producing is a 43 million modulus blank, (GL4 quality) Bob D. was right when he spoke to the blanks being a tad slower.. more of a mod/fast blank..
We are developing many different blanks right now, including a line in the 51 million modulus blank which will equal anything Loomis is putting out now (IMX)
I should have the new 1263 blank in my hands by the end of the month and am awaiting the arrival of the 1082.
I too agree, they are the best blank I have seen!

Aw that figures! I just had a Lamiglas 1263 built because Rainshadow didn't have one. They have one that is 10'6" 10-17lb (1264?) but that was heavier than I wanted. Oh well, the Lami is pretty nice.

TH,

Will they be offering all their curent rods in the new 51 million modulus graphite? If I can get that 1143 in the new graphite I might hold on and do that. laugh

That's the plan, the timeline is still up in the air.. ? I was told June, but which models I don't know. I know they are working as fast as they can.
They have been great to work with, I asked for the 1143 blank mid-summer, and by late Sept I had a truck full of them same with the 1263, it shoud be here by late Jan. (It will be our Feb. special laugh )
Theyare also putting together a 1082 blank.

What will the differance in price be between the 43 million modulous and the 53?
