If anyone's looking for a standard Curado, either left or right-handed, www.bighook.com has them on sale for $109.99. Does anyone know if Shimano intends to replace them with the new CuradoBFS? If I thought that they were I might pick up another standard one. I'm not sold on the new whiffle spool. And I seem to remember hearing Ryan say that the drag slips when they get wet, not that we have to worry about that in our climate.

rc, the standard curado is a safe bet for quite a few years. Thou at that $$, I'm gonna get a couple anyway! Shimano rep. @ the show said that reel is the #1 selling baitcaster ever. What your going to see are more models to fill every niche use. Now its out in 3.8 - 1 as well as the 5 - 1 & 6.2 - 1 ratio's. Then thiers the super free that we all want to get to know, and two sizes 100 and 200. Who knows what shimano will do next. Everybody loves that "green reel"

Chrome is correct...nowhere in the foreseesable furture is Shimano planning on dropping any of the standard Curados.

Thanks for the assurance guys. I have two of the standard 201's. I think I'll wait and take a closer look at the new free spool Curado before I but another one.
