I was looking for another Shimano Stradic 4000 and decided to buy one off of Ebay. I went to load line on it last night and discovered that the line doesn't lay evenly. It seems to bunch up toward the top end of the spool mad mad mad Yeah I'm pissed! I'm going to try to get the seller to square up with me but I'm not very optimistic.

Does anyone know how I could possibly fix the reel?

Anyone else have horror stories from Ebay?

Nylon spacer or washers need to be set on the shaft before the spool goes on. By adding or subtracting spacers will correct the problem. I believe most Shimano spinning reels have a section in the directions about solving uneven spooling.

Good luck!

FJ your comments are right on. I have the Stradic 2000 and in the instructions it has a section on adjusting the spool so that will spool evenly or toward the front or back of the spool. Now Kunan, if your really pissed and want to dump the "broken" reel, I'll take it off of your hands. wink
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

I have bought several different things off of EBAY, just got a new Miami Dolphins cap in the mail today actually. I have had all good experiences with the exception of some books I bought...took me 2 months to get her to ship them to me.

FJ,

Thanks for the tip!! The reel I got off of Ebay didn't come with a manual or spare washers but.....the one I bought last year did!! I guess it helps to read the manual. The box for the other reel had some spare washersand the worked great cool

FJ,

Yeah I still love the one Kunan I have left. It has great sensativity for the price and it is my lucky rod. A rod isn't worth a dime if it isn't fish worthy!! "The Kunan strikes again"!!! Thanks again.

Are Kunan rods that good? I have a 9' rod rated for 15-30lb test that was given to me, it still has the plastic wrap on the cork cause I've never had a reason to fish a rod that heavy, I've thought of using it for halibut but haven't had a chance yet.

HBP, Probably not a great rod for halibut, you need a standup rod with a lot of leverage for bouncing that ton of lead off of the bottom 200 ft down. It would be great boat rod for the sound or columbia (springers). Do you want to sell it??? heh heh no really, do you?

Hey guys, thanks for the offer on the kunan rod, but it sounds like a better rod than I thought it was. If it's to light for halibut what about sturgeon on the snohomish? I've wanted to try for one but didn't think I had a rod for it,they don't seem to run so big in the snohomish according to F&H news.

HBP, I fish the main channel of the Snohomish, steamboat slough, Ebby slough, and don't forget about priest point for sturgeon every year. That is what I was going to use the rod for.......Still like to have it though Ha Ha...

I have two of those rods, one is a classic 96, med light, and the other is a med heavy. Both are being rebuilt after 15 years of heavy use.

RK, maybe you could give me a few more tips or teqniques for the sno', maybe like baits, hook sizes, how much lead to use, what happens when you hook one of those bad boys, Thanks.
