I would like to take a trip west of the mountains for springers.
It would be a long trip for me, I live in Yakima, so I would like to plan the where and when?
Can I use a boat there?
Which set-up works best?
I usually fish the Wind River east so any suggestions west of that would be appreciated.

Thanks ---- Enjoy Life!

Do a search for Wind river and Drano lake and you will find some answers. You shouldn't be too far from wind river!?
Never mind, I didn't see your comments about wind river till after I posted. Are you tired of wind?

If you want to catch springers in may, june or july come over to the cowlitz. Just head out of Yakima towards Nachees when you get to the White pass-Chinook Pass Y Take the white pass cutoff to the left drive for 2 hours west and you'll be in a little town called Salkum. The last road to your left before you start up the hill out of town is called Fuller road that"ll take you right down to the boat launch on the cowlitz.
You can backtroll plugs or backbounce shrimp and eggs or pull kwikfish behind a jet planer all works good. laugh

Plugs,

Do you have to have a drift boat or a sled on that river?
How much of the river can I navigate with an outboard that draws about 12 inches?

Enjoy Life!
