Are there any places to catch striped bass in the state of Washington? Here in Oregon we have to go
to the southern part of our coast.

I think the Umpqua is about as far north as they come.

Ummmmmm......I was thinking I was going to get an entirely different subject when I clicked on theis one. Better check the spelling on "stripers".

My favorite spot was called Foxes. Old girlfriend worked there. wink

In the 70's we caught one off the mouth of the Skagit in a research vessel - furthest north I have ever hooked one was in the Smith River, trib to the Umpqua, however.

The state and cities are trying to do away with the native stripper population. Especially cities like Federal Way and Lakewood.
I think Oregon is a little more leniant concerning stripper conservation.

I recall seeing a 35-pound striper taken in Holmes Harbor, but that must have been sometime back in the 'sixties. I suspect that the occasional stray wanders into our waters, though it seems to me that the last time this subject came up someone responded that they were not that uncommon along the coast clear into BC (?).

What kind of bait do you use for those strippers?I would have to say Vancouver B.C. is the best place to find these natives. I'll be booking some trips to the Ceicl and #5 orange in the next couple months.

Ive seen strippers as far north as Alaska! laugh

As for stripers, They range as for north as Southern B.C. I cant remeber where it was I found that info. It was ether in a book or on TV. But aguy from Maine came out west and fished in the surf from Mexico all the wat north to B.C. and caught stripers almost every where he fished........
