Does any one know if you can use lie bait out in the bay or ocean, or is it illeagle. If its not against the law can some on clue me in on what to use. I am going blackmouth fishing this weekend,

Ocean fishing allows live bait. Used live anchovies for bottom fish and tuna. Fresh plug cut herring works well for kings, but once you plug cut it, they aren't "live" anymore.

Kittens work well for bass. Lots of topwater action.

DM, what Dogfish has posted is right on the money. Don't be afraid to switch up fishing locations or setups from downriggers to jigs, and everything in between. Blackmouth are ravenous feeders so look for bait and you'll normally find fish.
