Does anyone remember the site selling plugs that was posted a while back? I think that they were 6 for $10.00 or something like that.
Thanks for any information, I forgot to bookmark it.

Hey FishNg1

The website is www.reaper7.com/tomic.htm I got 24 of these plugs. They are all unused but definetly not the 2002 model.I guess the fish don't know that. Some were probably 10 or more years old, judging from the patina on the swivels.

I was happy with them overall.Hope this helps. Bigdog out.....

I just tried this link and it didn't work.Go to search any use "tomic plugs anyone" that one does work for some reason.

Hey bigdog, you have a period included in your link. That's why it doesn't work. Just take the period out after the 'htm' at the end of the link and it will work. Like this:

www.reaper7.com/tomic.htm

wink

Thanks guys, I did the search thing and had no luck. I actually prefer the older plugs if you know what I mean. They sometimes used different plastics or methods that made them fish better.

I once bought three 603 clown type rainbow
coloring with a matte finish,(glow) that were the best plugs that I have ever owned. Can't find them any longer....looked everywhere, have seen similar plugs by a different manufactur, but they don't produce like these three plugs did.

I don't have these plugs any longer...took the neighbor out, he stuck it on the bottom. Brought my steelhead partner out and after catching a big king, he knelt on it and broke it in half. The other one is ???????, I guess in plug heaven.

Sorry for the ramblin....thanks again.

Dang, I just looked at that website and realized I had some of those same things out in the garage. Got them from a neighbor that didn't want them anymore, but I can't use them since I don't have a boat. Mine aren't all glossy like the ones on that site though. Some are glossy and some have a rough texture. Some of them are glow in the dark too. They're all different sizes. I have 13 in all that I can find right now (think there might be more). Too bad I don't have a digital camara or scanner or I would post pics of them. Anybody know how much these would be worth? Thanks.

I think they just pull them as they are apparently plugs. So they they 'pull' (or backtroll) them downstream in their boats. That's what I'd guess, but I really have no clue either since I'm not a boater.

But, seriously does anybody know how much my supply would be worth? A few glossy textured ones and a few rough textured ones (some of those glow in the dark). 13 of them that I've found so far. Anyboy know? Thanks.

Fishnhinde,

They're mainly saltwater trolling plugs to fish off downriggers. Worked very nice for us off the west side of the island last year.

Okay, see I didn't know what I was talking about, fishnhide. So they're for saltwater then. That ran through my mind at one time. Anyway, though, no $hit, nobody knows how much more/less the rough finish and glow in the dark plugs are worth vs the glossy ones? confused

These plugs are primarily for Kings (and Blackmouth).
I paid $22 including shipping for a dozen new or unused plugs on the linked site.
The hot ones are "Mother of Pearl" plain and the one with green and pink diagonal stripes on top.
I think they all work. It's like any plug. It's the action that catches fish.
You can get a different action by tying directly to the eye on the front of the plug instead of the ring that attaches to it. Push the knot as far aft as possible and super glue it.That gives a pretty wild shake. Hope this helps. Bigdog out......

Another thing with these plugs is speed, I troll them 1-3 mph faster then I typically troll a herring, more speed = better action. wink

Let me throw my .02 cents in....

In addition to tying the knot back further, another trick I was taught years ago was to bring a small rubber band (dental type use for braces) over the front of the plug securing the line even further back- over the eyes of the plug. You want to see some action on a plug? Give this a go! At one time, I used bead chain however, I found it caused too much slippage and the plug ran uneven.

Another trick I picked-up was... drill a extremely small hole on the underside of the plug towards the rear. Fill a syringe full of sauce and fill the plug. What a scent trail! Refill every hour or so... (if needed)

My memory is a little hazy but it seems like greens, blues and "rainbow" colored ones were working for us out of Tofino. During the time we were fishing (late May), those were all supposedly Washington/Oregon-bound Kings. So maybe that means those plugs will do the trick down our way later in the summer.

And Craig, I think I remember your boat out in Elliot Bay last August but not up North. Hope we get that in-city fishery again this summer...

Bruce
