Being somewhat new to the world of top of the line fishing tackle, I'm a recent graduate of the University of Fishings School for Gear Queers, I would like to know what is the difference between old Loomis rods and post Shimano Loomis rods? I bought a GL2 1024c for myself around Christmas and really like it. Did I really miss out by not getting one a couple of years ago?

trailrat77,I don't think so, I used to be on the Loomis guide program and prostaff before Shimano and still am a member of their guide program today. I can say they are as good today, as they were then and some cases better, take the GL2 rod you mentioned. It's a better rod know, with fuji guides and reel seats, and the colors of the GL2 are better, choise of 4.......never cared for the old matt blue.I do miss some of the old wood reel seats on the GL3's and IMX's though.

Hey fellas I used to have a loomis and it was one of the newer ones and it was great but the great god of the river took it from me and I got a different rod from ALL Star and its just as good if not better so just some food for thought
