Last week I saw the first surprise springer caught 40 yards from me on the coast. I thought it was a big steely and I went to check it out and sure enough it was a springer. About 20+ lbs. Can you kee.... "Hell Yes". Checked the regs when I got back to my car ... "Hell No". Kind of early, isn't it?

I know of two caught on the Lower Col. in the last two days by the same guy. Beautifull 17 and 22 lb. fish (Kwikies and sardines...don't know if any of RT's secret butt-sauce attractor was involved). You must be talking about the upper coastal rivers...I'm so confused!!!

Upper coast. Also a friend told me that a drift boater had caught one as well.
