Fuzzy,

After 24? years, this past year, Columbia River spring Chinook re-opened. Credit good spring flows and ocean conditions, not the regs.

I just got through talking to Sparky, and he
said he talked to WDFW this afternoon and there
is nothing in the works to shut the rivers down
at this time. He also obtained some interesting
creel check figures, so stay tuned, I'am sure
he will post them for us shortly.

To reitterate what Bob said, this was all just a rumor.

Talked to the WDFW today and the powers that be (the ones that must give final approval for an emergency closure) have seen nothing in the pipline or know of anything that will come their way in the near future regarding any closure on the OP.

Secondly, the creel surverys on the Quillayute this year are very very comparable to last year. Also the Hoh tribe is catching much for fish this year then last (higher effort though) and the reason the Quillayute's are doing so poor is that they are hardly fishing.

You got me there Wild Chrome, they did re-open the Columbia for springers last year, I stand corrected. I guess since its not a fishery that I take part in,(distance, time, and lack of boat) that one slipped by me.
