Older than dirt I am. How about you??

fp

Let's not peek at the bottom.
How many do you remember? (be honest!)

Count all the ones that you remember- not the ones you were told about!

Ratings at the bottom.

1. Blackjack chewing gum
2. Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water
3. Candy cigarettes
4. Soda pop machines that dispensed bottle
5. Coffee shops with tableside jukeboxes
6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers
7. Party lines
8. Newsreels before the movie
9. P.F. Flyers
10. Butch wax
11. Telephone numbers with a word prefix (Olive - 6933)
12. Peashooters
13. Howdy Doody
14. 45 RPM records
15. S&H Green Stamps
16. Hi-fi's
17. Metal ice trays with lever
18. Mimeograph paper
19. Blue flashbulb
20. Beanie and Cecil
21. Roller skate keys
22. Cork popguns
23. Drive-ins
24. Studebakers
25. Wash tub wringers

If you remembered 0-5 = You're still young
If you remembered 6-10 = You are getting older
If you remembered 11-15 = Don't tell your age
If you remembered 16-25 = You're older than dirt

I'm older than dirt! But I can remember that with a bottle opener and a straw one could extract(steal) the contents of the pop bottle without removing the bottle from the machine. When that empty bottle was next in line to be sold, well no one would buy it. That's probably why they quit making those kind of pop manhines.

Butch wax was what you put in your hair to keep your crew cut or flat top standing strait up. It came in a stick that sort of looked like a chap stick. If you were a greaser then you had long hair combed back with a DA on the front and you used Bril Cream "a little dab ado ya."
And Howdy Duddy, What about Sky King with penny and Tag and one I bet no one remembers Tug Boat Anny. It was a half hour TV show in 1956 about a big woman tug boat captin on the Hudson River.
Sorry to say I remember all 25 items.

Geeeeeeeeeeez, thanks alot fp :p - 19-25.

And I gimp when I get out of bed, too. Criminy.

Still listen to Metallica sometimes, though. Does that make me younger, or age me faster??

19-25 Thanks fp!!! I'd of got 25 I'm sure but I grew up in a small town in North Dakota and wasn't exposed to all the fun stuff the big city kids were. Still I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything. It was great to be able to walk a mile and be able to hunt, and fish. Or, just goof off. cool

Drachir21, Na ya didn't. That was Cosmo Topper

Blkbrant, Just loved them Burma Shave signs on the hiway. Can ya remember them too!!

wiser?, Party line was back before dirt when we had more than one household on a phone line. When we picked up the phone we had to make sure that no one was already on the line. How's that for a number? Our house phone number was Hoquiam 1180-J. We used to pick up the phone and wait for an operator and give her the number we wanted her to dial for us.

Almost before dirt, fp
