Capn' Dan from the ifish board has made a suggestion of having a flotilla at Bouy 10 that he would help organize. With the predicted fall nook' returns to the Columbia I think that this is a great idea. I would propose that we have F5 at Bouy 10 in August and F6 in Sekiu in September. I have asked Capn' Dan and SmilesforYou to suggest some dates on the thread on ifish. Dogfish (Andy) from this board has volunteered to help setup the Sekiu flotilla and I will also help out with that one. Input all???
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh

Assuming we don't have unusually bad weather Jeff, both those are seeming "can't miss" flotilla places. Even the doughballs have a chance at winning a flotilla at both places - tons of feeding saltwater salmon! And lots of good accomodations, great scenery, and picnic party places at both areas. For peak fishing they would have to be fairly close together? Maybe Bouy 10 on Aug. 17th or 24th (Saturdays)? Maybe Sekiu on Sept. 7th or 14th (also Saturdays)? Get more feedback on the dates.

I also think it's about time you Washington people make a worthwhile drive - to a trophy fishery many of you come to anyway - Tillamook Fall Kings! Mid-October has these big hog chinooks in all places: saltwater at the jetty, up thru Tillamook Bay, and up the lower ends of the rivers (Trask and Wilson best). Excellent range of affordable places to stay, and to picnic party also. Maybe the Tillamook area ifish people could put that one together? Jennie and Bill, Captain J, Marie and Dennis of Tillamook Bait Co., and several of the local ifish guides and sponsors. You Wassies that know how to fish Willapa Bay will do fine. But even better if you bribe tips out of me. wink

I guess I better start bribing everyone now, seeing how I haven't made one flotilla yet...

My vote for F5 would be Buoy 10 on saturday, August 24th. This fishery is usually hotter than a pistol around third week of August, so catches should be good! We could have the official weigh in and picnic at Fort Canby State Park (Ilwaco) or perhaps one of the many private campgrounds nearby.

After seeing the profiles at the F4 picnic, I think will donate some slimfast & a treadmill for the raffle laugh .

I think that Capt Dan, Jeffhead and RT have a great idea. Bouy 10 Agu 24th Sekiu somtime in Sept and the Tillimook for the big kings sounds great. I had a great time at F4 and would be willing to help out Jeffhead if you need it for F6.

Seiku gets my vote for F6. Tons of fish, Silvers are pretty easy to catch, and a chance for lots of us with smaller boats to participate. I think it's a perfect time and place to have loads of fun! laugh

I'm up for August 24 at buoy ten.
I have a small two bedroom house at Seaview, about 5 minutes from Ilwaco or Ft. Canby boat Ramps or 15 minutes from Chinok Ramp. I have lots of room for tents, trailers, boat parking, ect.
I would be happy to host an overniter or even two or three nights if anyone is interested. cleared property 100 ft wide by about 250 ft long with good gravel road down the middle. I'm in and you're invited.

Man if you guys have it in august I would love to go but I think it would have to be on the 24 seen how my B-day is on the 18 and that would really hinder the good old 21 run eek RT promised to take me on laugh he said he knows some real bars up north where there are some real women or at least I think he said women. But anyways I think that would be a kill idea altought I would have to bum a ride in some one else's boat.

Labor Day at Sekiu is a ZOO! If you're going to try that area for F5 or 6, I suggest mid month like the 14th. Bigger fish, less pressure.

September silvers at Sekiu are insane. Big reel rippin' pigs. Whatever the consensus, on a weekend, I'm there!

I will definately try to get into one of these flotilas. The bouy 10 is a great fishery when they are in. I will definately try to make that one. I haven't fished the seiku fishery but have heard nothing but good things. These will be very productive and fun. I am ready. :p

I just posted this in another thread and should have put it here.

From reading feedback on the 3 boards and some e-mails from friends, the consensus so far seems to lean toward having an F5 at Bouy 10 on Aug. 24th, and having an F6 at Sekiu on Sept. 14th. The 24th will have peak fishing at '10' and the Labor Day crowds will have dispersed from Sekiu as the big fish start peaking around mid-Sept. in the 'Strait'. ... Keep posting more feedback for these guys.

Of course, these big advanced planned flotillas with a full digit number (3,4,5, etc.) always leaves room for shorter notice mini-flotillas. Such as a 4.2 or 4.3 or whatever at Wind/Drano if someone puts one on. And such as 4.6 or 4.7 for a July summer steelhead flotilla on the Cowlitz. Or wherever (just NOT the NF Lewis or Satsop mad ... jk wink ).

EDIT: Oh ya, don't forget the possibility of a summer Golftilla (as early as June maybe?). Lots of interest was posted. That proposed June or July combo of early morning steelies on the NF followed by a 9 or 18 hole fishing website golf tourney at Lewis River Golf Course sounds like a heck of a (sand) blast. Geez ~ fish, golf, BBQ, and beer! It can't get any better than that, ay? ... OH YA it can. Superfly can supply some of Puget Sound's top dancing girls for that event. Or just hire the Hooters crew from Lake Union as waitresses. smile

Good deal Jeff. If you aren't committed to your Oly crew for F6 at Sekiu, put me in as an organic rod holder. smile I make a good team-mate, if only for tossing bananas in other's boats and puttin the 'kiss of death' smudge wammy on em. laugh If your Oly squad is set, I'll try to hook up with someone so I don't have to tow my sled all the way up there.

Wiser, if you still have room left, save some space for Stew and I for F5 at '10'. We will be boat ho's again for that one - my flat sled get's a little too bumpy and "moist" out there.

RT, the invite from last year is still in effect! Ya got a seat in my boat for the Sekiu Floatilla. I just won't let anyone know where I got the "organic rod holder."

AND we have 'nanners on the 'Bobber Boy' all the time. Hasn't hurt us yet. Unless there is something I don't know about Oregon 'nanners that you havne't shared with us.

Mrs Hoochie ALWAYS has bannanas on board! Didn't stop her from landing that 19#er last Labor Day.

Thanks Hooch'. If Jeff has an Oly crew, sign me up in your boat. If he can take me, I would love to get out with you the day before, for fun and practice. Let's keep in touch via e-mail. Cool!

Just a word of warning to the F5 participants. The weekend of the August 24th is during the dreaded Long Beach Kite Festival. If you plan on getting a motel in the Long Beach area, forget it, the popular and not so popular motels are already booked (found this out this morning). I did find lodging in nearby Astoria that was helluva alot cheaper than what the places wanted out at LongBeach. So get on it if your planning on spending the night down there.

Of course I'll be down there fishing out of Chinook that whole week and already know where to fish come the morning of the 24th. You Oreos don't stand a chance. laugh

We'll be at Olson's in our motorhome and will be on the water in a blue 17' Crestliner Sportfish w/blue top, Scotty Electrics and a beautiful blonde (Mrs. Hoochie)

Olson's won't take reservations for the RV spots but do take 'em for their motel and cabins. Don't know much about Van Riper's or the Coho resorts as far as reservations go.
