This board's been very slow lately. Am I out of the loop? Has the fishing been awesome and everyone is on the river? There are threads from 4 days ago on page 1 today. Seems a bit odd.

I've been fishing some local rivers and doing fairly well.. But reality is I've been working too much.

Since you asked.....

I hit the Kalama on Friday morning and the Sandy (OR) on Sunday morning. I had one take down on my float/shrimp rig on the Sandy but that was the only hit I had all weekend. I lost the fish when the line snapped.

The water temps are still a bit cool (43-44) but the flows are clear and dropping quickly. They are very fishable from either shore or in a drift boat. Everyone I talked with reported very slow fishing. I'll be floating the Sandy on Friday with a guide, so maybe my luck will change.

Well Wild Chrome....its been busy. Skipped worked Friday and headed South. Fished for springers near Kalama with no success. Pulled out and headed to Cape Horn for a try at sturgeon. River was fast and rising. It rained all day. No luck. Hit the river again the next morning and spent the day catching and releasing shakers and putting one keeper sturgeon in the box. Drank lots of beer and got sunburned. Sunday, I was back at it once again, but with springers on my mind. Went to Bonneville in time for the afternoon bite, but didn't get much fishing in because of kicker motor problems. Saw lots of fish caught by the guide boats. Wish I could have taken part in the fray, but it was fun being on the water anyway. Arrived home late last night. Plan to recover over the next five days before the weekend arrives.

Well, now that it's OVER frown spent the last 3 days at Cathlamet myself - Friday all on my lonesome I hooked 4 springers and lost them all - two at the net, just fell off as they were coming in belly up. Hatcheries too mad . Saturday I brought by bud Richie with me - the dude that put a 30 pounder in my boat a couple weeks ago - he didn't dissapoint and got a 11 pounder keeper in the boat a minute and a half after we started fishing. Lost a couple more too. I of course didn't get a bite as they were probably all keepers and I only land wild fish it seems. Sunday he hooked 3 and landed two 12 pounders, yep, keepers, and since that was all that was running I predicably didn't get a bite. Oh well, getting them in the boat is just as good, hey, it was my boat, my bait, and my driving that caught them, right wink For the year I caught 9 and was able to keep only 2, so my best bud gifted me with his second fish of the day - hell, he's go a permanent seat in my tub laugh

Oh yea, got clams a couple days and went for trout opening day with the family, since it rained incessantly they didn't object at all to cutting it short so I could hit the good tide at Cathlamet smile We caught some too, my daughter caught the big one that was in the WDFW opening day report for Summit Lake - the 17 incher cool

So you got it right Chrome, I be fishin' laugh

The Skagit has been the place to be the last week or so. I think I've hooked twenty-five Steelhead in the last six trips. Haven't been doing so good landed them though, barbless hooks just don't cut it when it comes to landing them but who cares as long as there's some action. Kind of strange that most of the fish are all about six to eight pounds. Did hook one pushing twenty on Saturday but didn't want to net it and just before I was able to beach the boat it came undone. Todays the last day so I'm headed back this afternoon for one last try.
