With the closures in areas 10 & 11, can anyone share any areas I might go crabbing in Area 9? I've heard Kayak Point is good. Is there a pier there to throw a crab ring from? I've heard you can put on some waders and catch crab, by searching for them. Is this true?

Any info would be appreciated, especially other Areas to go Crabbing. I'm itching for some steamed Dungeness crab! Thanks!

Thanks! I didn't know that! I usually go to Des Moines to catch those critters. I'm looking to expand my horizons a little bit. Anyone know of any other good crabbing areas besides Westport?

Thanks again.

What do you guys use for bait?

I usually use a old flounder... a chunk of frozen turkey, or a can of Tuna...

they like the frozen turkey :p

JS, Kayak Pt. (area 8-2) can be very good for crab. I was up there Memorial Day weekend with my boat. My buddy (had the waders) dragged my boat around and threw crab in the boat and I sorted, seperated, and threw back the females. There is a pier to toss a ring from and boat launch (next to the pier). Bring your waders and fish net. Best time to go is during a minus tide or you can set a pot if you have a boat. Get to the park very early too, the park can be extremely crowded on sunny weekend days. rolleyes
