I have a friend with a farm pond and he wants to plant a few fish.

Any idea where a person can buy trout for planting.?

I know that there is a privite hatchery in Lapawai (sp) that sells them. They have a Kamloops/ steelhead cross that grows up to be a major bad ass and grows fast. Kirkland is not that far. These people also deliver them. Last time we got some was several years ago and we got 1000 of them that were about 4 inches long. In two years they were 24 inches long. You have to feed them of course.

Make sure he gets the proper permits from WDFW. I am sure the fine for not doing so would be steep.

I think you can get kamloops and/or triploids at Gold Creek Trout Hatchery right near you on Redmond-Woodinville Road, Woodinville address I believe.

Fish on...

Todd.

Trout Lodge, a private trout hatchery over in the Soap Lake/Ephrata area supplies triploids to the state. You could probably find them in an Ephrata phone book at the library.

SRB, let me look it up today sometime, its been a while but I still have the phone number somewhere. They also had Brook trout. They were the steril type and also grew fast and got to around 6 lbs in 3 years. One of my unkles has a farm pond that is artesian feed and stays cool all year around. He stopped putting trout in it because they require a lot of care etc. Now it has Bluegill in it that are as big as 2 1/2 lbs.. And yes, there was a permit involved to put the trout in there.

Go for triploids. Take a big garbage can filled halfway with water. Go to the Trout Lodge in Orting and catch them and place them in the back of the trash can. We had about a 45 minute drive home and they ALL lived.
