I haven't been out but I talked with one of guys at Fisherman's Marine in Portland who said he landed a 25lb summer Chinook on Saturday (6/29). He caught it on a Kwikfish - K14. He didn't say what color.

This is the time of year that everyone waited for 30 years ago. Its nooks and jacks time and it is really fun. This year is the fist time in about three decade that they have opened the season. The river is high from snow melt and these fish love to hug the bank on the WA side. They roll and splash in the brush that is in the water at this time of year. It may sound nutts to you but fish in 8 feet of water or less. Less is better.
We fish with eggs. Some are caught with bait wrapped plugs. Take the kids and the wife and lots of lunch and sun screen. This is as close to
paradise as it gets. Limit 2 nooks and 4 jacks. Yes those steelies must go back so please don't take them out of the water or put your hands on them. If you haven't done this fishery, and a lot of you under 50 guys haven't, this is the best family fishery in our two states. COME ON DOWN laugh
Season ends July 31! The first two weeks are the highest water and the best. Faster the water runs the better the fishing so watch the tides for fastest outgoing water.
