I have read this name on the board from time to time and I thought to myself whatever or whoever PETA might be sure wasn't held in high regard. I know it may be hard for some of you to believe, but there seems to be a lot of people out there that have never heard of them....YET. Today while scanning news I came across several related stories regarding vegans or as they were known in my generation, vegetarians. I didn't think I had a problem with them until I read that a select group called PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals)won't eat honey because the poor worker bees make the honey and they live in an oppressed society. I can just see the headline now. "Vegans Sue Bee Hive". In an age which has seen men walk on the moon, the Berlin Wall come down, the influance of an evil empire toppled, and the world wide web come of age, how is it that these wacko's get press time and attention showered on them? This politically correct stuff is going too far. Who gives a damn they don't eat honey made by the worker bees? What the hell ever happen to these poor stupid soles to make them so sick? Are these the kids of the flower people so brain fried from LSD and all that other crap? You guys that want to raise hell over bonk or C&R or the issues of hatcheries have legitimate differences and you should debate them.
However, you had better close ranks on these bas***ds or your all just blowing smoke up.......

They (PETA) have way to much free time on their hands. They should get a boyfriend, girlfriend, or something. These people are like those profesional protestors at the WTO riots. They are shipped in from all across the country.

PETA has a lot of people and organizations that back them, it's a shame we people that love to fish and hunt don't come together to stand up for what we love. I think it's just another case of hatred of something winning over love of something. I know that we who love to fish and hunt have come together and stopped different organizations from taking away our rights, I just see a bigger and faster responce coming from groups like PETA.

BigShark - not to get too off subject, but there is a difference between a vegan and a vegitarian. One of them is a doctor for animals... No, I mean one of them was in a war? Oh, now I remember... A vegetarian does not eat meat and dairy products - only fruits, veggies, soy, ect. Generaly for 'health' or religious reasons. A vegan does not use\eat ANY kind of animal product - leather, eggs, dairy, meat, and apparently honey. Supposedly for 'moral\ethical' reasons...

Well, that just leaves the good stuff for me

It sounds reasonable to me. I'm not up on all these labels. Heck I just thought most of those folks that didn't like meat came from families that had a poor hunter as head of the household or was a poor fisherman.

The thing that gets me is that people can fight for animals when there are major major problems in Africa with AIDS and Hunger. Now this is a human being. Sure animals get treated badly in this world but I think until all of the people are being treated fairly then they should concentrate on the human race. To think of all of the funds that PETA gets instead of the starving children.... Ites. Does not make any sense???

Hey since you guys are on the subject, I thought I'd share this experience with you.

I was with a few friends, and we had went and got some grub after goin fishin with our ladies, and headed over to one persons house to watch some movies we rented. The dad got PISSED off at us because we had chicken in the food we had. He told us to get out of the house with those "dead animals" and yelled at his son, sayin "YOU KNOW BETTER THEN THAT!" or somethin. We ended up goin to another friends house, but it was kinda a weird experience. I didnt know people were that strong on that stuff.

Kinda pisses me off though... Some of the ice cream we bought was melted by time we got to eat it...

Sounds like someone needs a bloody chicken head on his front porch - or windsheild (: No - i'm just kidding. But what a jerk!

I wonder what goes through these guys heads when they step on a poor innocent bug, or hit that nice little possum with their car...

The feds are looking at PETA for a couple reasons.

First they are looking at them for their terrorist style actions. Many people view them as the number one domestic terrorist threat.

Second they are looking at revoking their tax-exempt status since it's questionable if they're a non-profit org.

Two old Indian definitions. Vegetarian- bad hunter who no could shoot bison in teepee. Vegan- very hungry during winter.

On the front of our local paper today is an article where PETA is demanding a ban on fishing in Washington State Parks. "The violent process of fishing and its consequences do not complement the peace and tranquility of a state park". They go on to say that Washington already has made the compassionate choice to ban hunting in state parks and needs to "take the next step" to ban fishing because "fishing amounts to hunting in water". Give me a break! Its just another step to infringe on our rights as Americans and as humans.

Just saw in the paper this morning that PETA is after State Parks to ban fishing in the parks. Your right , they have a lot of time on their hands

attention whores is what they are. If they really gave a dam they would be out really doing something to better the animals like helping out the habitat. But instead they waste perfectly good oxygen trying to convert perfectly normal people into freaks like them. If it wasn't for fishing and hunting what the hell would we do? Might as well shoot me. Can spend that much "quality" time at home.
