Okay, I already have plans to hit Sekiu, but they are closing the King fishery, and reports of silvers are spotty, so I am gonna head 20 miles west and fish out of Neah Bay this weekend.
I fished it once in someone elses boat, so I don't know the area for Jack. I have my 18 foot Seaswirl with VHF, GPS, Cell phone and a few fish finders. I have downriggers and all the gear.
Is my boat suitable to make the run around the corner to go past the Bonilla Pt/Tattoosh Island line to fish for Kings? I feel very confident in rough weather at Sekiu in my boat, and always have life jackets at hand, just in case.
Your thoughts, suggestions and info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Andy

Hey Jeff,
What happened to your 24 footer? Did you sell it and buy the smokercraft?

Dogfish: For other info, I just posted a report on Neah Bay on this board after fishing there the last 4 days. But to your direct question, you should be fine with your 18' Seawirl there. I saw a lot smaller than that out there recently. Just use common sense & know your own plus your boats safety limits. You can get local marine forcasts constantly on channel 1. Don't count on using a cell phone there, most will not have service there at all. Skag rocks area is very protected, but if you go out on the ocean, head to a location where at least a few other boats are around or partner up with another boat to run out, since that is where the good fishing is right now. Enjoy, you will have a great time

Well,
I'm heading up to Neah Bay for starters, and I may make a run outside for a King if the water lays down long enough, then fish inside. If it is just too rough, I will head to Sekiu and play CNR till I get a halibut and my silvers.
Thanks for your help. Andy
Oh yeah, most of my partners had other things come up, so if someone wants some time out on the water, send me a private message by 10am tomorrow with your phone number, and we'll figure out a way to hook up.
By the way, I'll be in the blue/white Seaswirl w/ gray top, towed by a tan supercrew F150.

Good luck and safe boating Andy! Hope we get a vanity post upon your return! What's the skinny with F6 at Sekiu? September timeframe? Good time for a little foresight and planning. FJ...out.
