To whomever is interested, I spoke with some Muckleshoots down along the Duwamish and they are planning on netting tonight (8/7) from 8:00 PM until 8:00 AM. I might go down there tomorrow at lunch and see how they did.

I was wondering when they are going to put the nets in. I just looked in the river here behind Boeing and there are already 5 boats marking their place.

Thanks for the heads up Barnettm. Seems like Thursdays have been the day for the test fisheries so far. Just think though, if they (indians) do not get a decent amount of fish they (WDFW) could close the fishery early. frown

Just got done watching the tribe pull nets in the Duwamish River. All of the boats were getting fish, one of them that was very close to where we were standing was just hauling them in. The amazing thing was the size of the fish. My work mates and I figured that most of the fish this one netter was getting were in the 20 to 30 pound range. However one of the fish did look to be near the high 30's to low 40's in size. This was one of the biggest fish I have ever seen in the nets here in the river. Tribal Police was on the water too.

Fish4fun,
I'm in the 2-10 & just watched 2 boats pull their nets.
They did quite well as a friend & I saw 20-30 fish.
Probably more because they were just finishing up.

Sushi,
Yes they do net the bay, but I don't know if they net
the bay at the same time as the river.

Yesterday the fish were jumping all over so I'd have to
say there are lots of fish around. But I'm not to sure
about a netting schedule. I think they net whenever
they want cuz I've seen a boat in the river for 3 days in
a row while it was still dark.

KNOPHISH,
I am up river from you at the 9-120, the big boat turning area out here was plugged with nets this morning. When I went home at 2:30 yesterday, there were 7 boats sitting here staking out a spot. Like I was saying the size of the fish are unreal this year.

Fish4fun,
That's where I've seen the boat all week
in front of your bldg while I drive in.
I 1st thought someone was out trolling some
spinners, but I don't think that part of the river was open.
Just open for nets. I'm going out on Saturday to try the bay
again. So far we've hit 2 kings & 6 silvers, but that was the 1st
weekend it opened.

are they netting the green river? if so, the regs say no chinook can be keeped by anglers, if there are so many fish, why not allow a season for kings on the green, maybe im talking about the wrong river, but someone said boeing, and the green runs right behind boeing in kent..any clarification will be helpful.. **berkley boy**

Yes, you are thinking of the right river. We are on the lower river in South Seattle. The Green turns to the Duwamish at the I-405 bridge. I am not sure how far the nets are going up from here, I don't think the Green is being netted though.

I just got back from visiting the Muckleshoot staging area (right under the 509 bridge on east side). Mucho fish being cleaned, packed, sold, or whatever. Some really big ones. I think most were caught in the lower river below or around Boeing DC. I got the impression they were allowed to fish only one day a week for 12 hours. The enforcement guys were there also, so they probably have an accurate count of the catch. It was alot, and some were really big. As a matter of fact, they all were kind of big!!!!! I never saw any small ones.

BB75, the portion of the river downstream from the 1st Ave Bridge is the Duwamish Waterway. The portion upstream from the 1st Ave Bridge is the Green River.

You can legally fish for kings downstream from the West Seattle Bridge (SW Hanford St.). A lot of guys sit right under the West Seattle Bridge and jig for kings and do pretty well.

To fish under the west Seattle bridge you have to have a boat. Launch under the 1st Ave bridge and head downstream. The west Seattle bridge is the next bridge you come to.
