Just wanted to ask how's the Skok producing and what to use down there? BerkleyBoy75 the fish are being snagged; is that how you catch them down there?

I floated the Skok yesterday. We didn't see many fish from the boat launch down to the tidewater, maybe 20 fish in all. Fishermen, (AND FISHERWOMEN!), had the kings outnumbered 20 to 1.

I tried out the new gun rack on the pontoon boat. I was looking for coyotes, but none showed up. Can hardly wait for cast and blast on the Satsop and Wynoochee. I did get a few looks, though.

I'll add my (lack) of information to this thread. Fished the skok for 4 or 5 hours on Saturday. Started down low: plenty of people, no fish. Saw a few roll, and that was it. Moved up top and waded my way down a bit, saw a few more fish, and just as many people. My girlfriend hooked the only fish we saw on all day (on corkie and yarn).

In short: many people, few fish.

Fished it yesterday and it kind of sucked. The fish just aren't there yet. I think everyone is getting overanxious and jumping the gun (myself included). Perhaps in a week or so the fish will be in and the slayfest will be on. I'll second Aunty M's remark that the fish cops are thick this year..... They were all over the place yesterday. Now, everyone who knows me on this BB will attest to the fact that I'm not a real big fan of the Game Wardens', but I'll say this about their presense on the Skok this year...... It's about G*d D*mn time! It'll be nice to see the blatent snaggers get cracked down on. I mean, don't get me wrong, I foul hook my fair share of fish, sometimes on a river like the Skok it cant be helped. But to set there and just rip sides all day long is wrong.

I hit the Skok yesterday down toward the mouth. There were a few folks down there and believe it or not none of them were snaggers. It was quite enjoyable. I hooked into one for a couple of seconds that was about it. I would not fish it til the rains come. No flow to the river, can't get a decent drift. See you there after the river gets some water, that way I can truely be away from the crowds.

i fished the skok sat, no hookups, but the hole i was fishing had plenty of kings in it, especially with the high tide, they seemed to come alive, trucker, as in to answer your question of whether i got my fish by being fould hooked, nope, a big school came thru and like 3 of us hooked up, i got mine in, the hook was in the bottom of the jaw on the side, you can usually tell a foul hooked fish from foul hooked anyways..there is so much satisfaction of catching than rather snagging, ive bump-jerk fish before, but there is no sport in that at all..devine, we should hook up in a week or so..i dint fish sunday down there, no fish..the ones that are in there are spooky..i fished the puyallup aka mudbath river, no bites.. **berkley boy**

Hey BB, talk to me when there is some rain. I am thinking about taking a day off during the week to really enjoy this river when it comes up.I have your number so I will give you a buzz when I am heading there. Does anyone know when the nets are in.
thanks

Purdy creek is full of kings. I stopped to watch a guy fight a bright big king when this dork with a note pad asked me if I planned to fish there. He said he was the tribe cop and he said it was closed waters and he was writing alot of tickets. The fishing regs state that it is open to the 15th of August. Catch and release. So what this A##hole talking about. I saw him tell people to leave. He said he called the game warden. If no one is packing fish out whats the deal.
Is a few hookups worth the B.S?
I think not.

ZoZo,
I would wait for the rain. Sure the fish come in with the tides but there is absolutely zero flow to the river. Can you even use eggs in the Skok? Well if you go and things are better send us an update, but I would find somewhere else to fish. Just my 2 cents
