I'll be there from Mon.-Wed. and longer if the bite's on. Just programmed my new gps so the fog is no longer an issue. Here's a link for setting coord's and a link to the good areas.

Hey FJ,

You going up there, too? I'll be headed out of the COHO resort. You know the boat. I'm taking my Father-in-law and oldest son. If you have VHF on the vessel you're on, same channel as last weekend. If you are on FRS, channel 11.

Look for you up there,
.

Took a friend and his two boys to Sekiu for the weekend. Fished Friday night, Saturday morning, evening, and Sunday morning. Only managed one keeper hatchery each day. Friday and Saturday the water was rough and that made things difficult. The water was great this morning and we got out into the shipping lanes and kept busy for awhile releasing natives and one chinook(10lbs). There was enough chop on the water that it was difficult to see and stay on the rip lines. I heard that it was much better fishing last week. Anyone else?

I just got back from my Sunday trip to Sekiu. Two words sum up the action today. Slow. wink

We met up with FJ this morning at the Coho and launched from there. Water conditions were as good as they get at Sekiu, and minimal breeze. Fog came up a bit around 10am near Clallam Bay, but it was clear about 4 miles out where we were.

We landed 7 and kept 4 legals, had a number of other takedowns. They were not feeding on krill near the caves, so we headed out trolling plug cuts and coyote spoons.

Here is a shot of a nice hooknose my father-in-law wanted a picture of. Should get better in the next two weeks.

Dogfish,
That is a nice fish, how ever I have a couple problems that I just can't keep to myself.
I understand wanting to get a picture of a nice native but the problem I have is with the handling of it. I see a hand running through the gill plate and it looks like it will rip off. These fish have a tough enough chance to make it through the gauntlet without the extra wear and tear we bestow upon them. I hope it swam off just fine, but again there are steps we can take to ensure they do. Nice fish!

I wish you were right, but I'm thinking that's a fin under the thumb and not part of the downrigger. Unable to see in the picture is the actual hook nose, I don't see many hook nose hatchery fish this early in the year.
If it's not I apologize.

Looks like a clipped fish to me. I can clearly see the top reel part of the downrigger and in place of where the fin would be looks to be the top end of a rocket launcher.

I agree it is a hatchery. That is the top of the rod holder on the rigger. I have the same ones.

I have fished with dogfish and he wouldn't have anyone hold a native like that and release it. It has got to be a hatchery fish, and a nice one at that Andy laugh

I'm vouching for Andy too. There is no way that's a wild fish. Some people are true sportsman, Andy is one of them.

I had planned to fish Sat. through Mon. but the fishing was so poor that I left Sunday morning without even going out. SLOW is definitely the way to describe it, especially compared to last year. They better show up soon or Flotilla 6 won't be the slayfest that everyone is expecting.

Why is it that if there's a doubt whether its a hatchery or wild one, that so many people assume the worst or that its poached? I highly doubt that this gentlemen who took the time to post his pi'k would put a wild fish on this board....

Here we go again....new poster comes in, makes some assumptions about this and that and gives a lecture to a long time poster and pisses a bunch of people off.

I don't even know Dogfish, but can tell you my impression from reading his posts that he is a pretty decent guy and not the type of person that goes around disregarding the law.

May I suggest asking first and/or sitting back and watching the show for awhile before making accusations.
