Anyone fishing the John's River area of Grays Harbor yet? The time is drawing near. Any updates would be greatly appreciated and reciprocated. Thanks

Hey Para,
GH was incredible on the opener but has almost died as of late...strange....however there were lots of fish in the 40lb class...I am thinking it was a late bunch of URB's heading to the Columbia, but thats just a guess. The other possibility is that they headed on upstream which would make the 16th a great opener!

Paranoid, Scotty and others:

Just got home from a "lookie Lou" around the pump houses. NO blueback, which are legal, but also no salmon that I could see. Can't believe that have a lower river fishery and make the legal opening above bridge 9/15. In yrs. past, lot's of jacks.........duh to the WDF

I guess this topic has changed from the harbor to the river. Fine by me. Let's keep each other informed. This should be a great fishery this year. Mabey a couple of us can hook up (pardon the pun). Because of my job I fish alot by myself and may be looking for a fishing partner or two. Let's talk. I have a sled and a drift boat. I know the river well. Chip in for gas, use your own bait, and tie your own leaders is all I ask. Interested?

Fished this weekend and had some success. Launched in the Johns river, ran to the Gray and started to fish with a 100 other boats. Saturday the bite was on first light until and hour after high tide. I wouldnt call it hot but we caught and saw others also catching some nice slabs. There was a small bite right after the lowe tide change. We managed to fill the rest of our limit with the low slack. Sunday we fished at first light and could not belive the amount of bait in the Gray. From top to bottom you couldnt not find a place without biat. To much of a good thing i guess. Once the tide changed the bait move on and a small bite came on allowing us to hit a nice 30lb before we had to head home. Next weekend should be great!!! laugh
