Was thinking of fishing Elliott Bay/Area 10 for coho tomorrow. Any one catching any fish there.

There are no fish to be caught in the south Sound, at least at Redondo any way. frown

EL,

Here's the latest report from www.salmonuniversity.com website. !!! WE NEED RAIN BAD TO GET THE FISHIES MOVIN!!!

and now, presenting the report...here's area 10:

Area 10 -- Sept 05 report--

In the last few days, we're starting to get some migrant fish–the biggest so far has been 11 lbs. They seem to be more concentrated on the east side from the Edmonds oil dock down to Meadow point. Also they have been around the 30 ft depth. Dodgers and coho flies have been the most productive.

Check your regs carefully for openings & closings in this area.

Do you guys think the silvers are just late, or it isn't a very big run this year. I fish the green for salmon and am concerned because the catch rate for silvers is lower then it should be.

I was just down at the Green today by S. 112th St. Still a ton of kings holding there. There was even a guy poaching! mad mad mad

I took the boat out and fished below 1st. Ave bridge all the way into Elliott Bay and the silvers are just now starting to show. The Sept. 16th opener should be really good for silvers and a mix of kings (to be released of course). smile

Carl, do you need to have a boat to fish that low on the green for the Sept. 16th opener. Or can you bank it. I'm assuming if you banked it you'd go with spinners or a float and eggs??

Went to the soo's creek hatchery to see what is in the pond. There were only 25 kings and no silvers. And not much water in the creek. Also checked out the hatchery on the carbon 500 kings in the pond is what they said but it sure didnt look like it.

My boss talked to a fishery biologist in Sitka and he said all their runs were running a few weeks late this year. Last year they were a week or so early. Remember that our sockeye were late arriving this year (with a late opener) and so too are the coho. Br patient...they're coming!!

Reading some of the reports from guys who went out to Seiku over the weekend and it sounds like the fish are "hanging out" out there for now.

Fished Saturday and Sunday out of Shilshole. We worked hard and got 3 in the boat for about 12 hours fishing. We did miss a few Saturday.

If it was about catching, I would have quit a long time ago. wink

Hey easy,

I am going to hit the river on wednesday afterwork. not sure what to use I was thinking of a heering below a slip bobber on one pole and having my buddy use eggs below a bobber. Then next week switchin two wiggle warts above the bridge. I have another ? for you guys out their. In the fish rules they talk about a road on harbor island being the point where you are restricted to bait and bobber. Do you know what this lines up with as far as landmarks on the river? west seattle bridge or the railroad bridge they lower or the next bridge down that pivots on both ends or something completly different. What type of boat do you use easy I am sure I have seen you out their but you never know. I am in the green alumaweld formula vee.

SW Hanford Street is where the mill is located on Hanford Island, or the first bend in the west waterway. There is an update on the WDFW website to the 'Duwamish Waterways Special Rules' as printed in the pamphlet. The float and bait rule applies to the snaggers bridge area (Spokane St) on the east waterway.

The west waterway has public access by the Spokane St bridge on Harbor Island (near the paint factory), and there is public access road to the Duwamish near the RR track crossing on West Marginal St.

Warning to guys on Elliot bay.

The Muckleshoot set some nets last night.
I also talked to a few guys who were from the tribe and they were scouting it out by the grain terminal to get ready to start their net setting this week. frown
The fish are not even in thick and the ones that are around are small ( 3lbs maybe) confused

They say that all the resident Coho in the sound(Inner Elliot bay) are released by their tribe. ( these do not head up river but stay in the salt and die in the salt.) They have their smolt pens over by Myrtle Edwards park.
I know that they have been doing the release from Elliot bay for the past 5+ years but I thought these were set up by the F&G and not the tribe. frown

Called and talked to the wdfw in olympia and talked to them about the regs. It is open in the west waterway exactly like it was last year. The mistake is should have said east waterway. I called and talked to the local regional office about 3 weeks ago and was told it also included the west waterway. How do they expect us to know the rules if they dont. Good news I will be plugin wednesday below first ave bridge. yea haw.. If i get a ticket I sure will be mad but I made sure I have the name of who I talked to written down.

Troller, when I was out below 1st Ave on Sunday everyone was pulling plugs. I did not see a single bobber in the water. The silvers were just starting to show up then so it should be good this weekend.

Here is a pix of me and my boat. I even have EASY LIMITS steciled on the side of it now. I will be out there this weekend.

Nice Silvers! Looks like you caught them in Elliott Bay (I see Armeni Ramp Area). That place sure gets busy. Were you trolling, mooching? What gear u using?

I will be looking for you out their on saturday . I am headed out tommorow afterwork to give it a shot. I work just south of the 43rd ave/180th bridge our building is on the river. I have been looking a couple of times a day and saw one jumping two days ago and a couple of active ones this afternoon splashing around. So yes their on the way now. Last year during the peak out back here you would see them jumping all over the place just like down at the 1st ave bridge when the fishin gets hot. I am ready for some fishin. Has anyone out their tried anchoring above the 14th ave bridge farther up away from the barge traffic and sitting and waiting for them come your way ? If so what kind of lures did you use. You can go about a mile above the 14th ave bridge in a prop boat so I might just try it when it opens next week.
