The Carbon/Puyallup is a decent enough river when you want to stay local, all silver rivers aren't the same though, what might work in one wont work in another in most cases... I fish both methods on the carbon/puyallup, long and shorter 2 ft leaders. I used to always fish the shorter leaders because the water is so low and it gets the rig ( cork/yarn) in the zone as soon as the weight hits bottom, BUT, this year I started fishing a longer leader (4-5ft) and have caught a hell of alot more fish whether I flossed em or they came after it...they were all in the mouth and on the bank so you be the judge. Anyway take care bro and good luck!

I dont realy understand long leaders I use light line and most times almost no weight in fact no weight at all(if possible) small swivels #10 or #12 good quality swivels and they will not break even on some big springers my leader is never longer than 24" in low clear water.light line makes a big differance.
