I just picked up a new/used DB and I'm wondering what to do about insurance. I've got the trailer covered as part of my auto policy but GEICO sent me to one of their sister companies for the boat itself. They want around $500 a year for full coverage and liability with a $500 deductable.

Anybody getting a better deal than that? Suggestions? Numbers?

I use a company in seattle called "The Boat Insurance Agency" they are on westlake Ave. I can guarentee they will be much cheaper. I pay something like $200.00 a year for my driftboat. Give them a call at 206-285-1350.

I will second the boat agency. I pay $500 a year for a $45,000 boat so they quoted you way to much. You could also check i boats for a quote Iboats.com. then click on the tab for ins.

Just got off the phone with the Boat Insurance Agency and got better coverage and a lower deductible while saving over $300 a year on the DB and trailer.

With all the political and non-fishing related snipes that folks get into on this board it's great to see that this can still be a fantastic resource and pointer when it really counts.

If you are eligible, you may want to check with USAA. I have $300K liability, and it's pretty cheap for my DB. You never know when some knucklehead will step on a round rock along the river, break and ankle, and try to sue you
