Can you buy them preassembled. Rich G. swears by them and I'm in need of a new 9 - 9.5 ft. rod. I've seen that the blanks cost around 60 bucks. However, I have no idea how to make a rod from scratch. If I can't get one preassembled from somewhere would anyone be willing to make one for me? Just a thought........

Rod making doesn't require a huge amount of capability to do a decent job. I made a decent rod when I was 11. First try, and I was no paragon of home craftsmanship skill.

Anglers Workshop, in Woodland, will have a book for ten bucks or so, that will tell you all you need to know. Then you can make what you need, and generally save about 30-40% on every rod you build. More important, you can build exactly what you want, rather than whatever is fashionable that year.

It only takes about 2 to 3 hours of effort to build an average casting rod. Try it, you'll like it...

I make my own rods also. Im not as quick as Silver but get great satisfaction from cathing a fish on a rod I built. If you dont want to make your own, I agree with Bob, TH makes a sweet rod.
