I saw that too - a red hotspot. That is interesting, I never stopped to think I was trolling and catching the attention of killer whales. I have had sealions demolish salmon I have hooked, but not killer whales.

You would think that if a great white shark was in these waters that it would be great news. Well I searched thru two news papers this morning and not a blip. Is this another fish story being cooked up? what

Just how do you people get a killer whale out of a great white. rockfish is talking about a great white SHARK not killer whales. This has to be the makings of a great fish story. As these waters are just about to cold for one of those man eaters. slap

I.ve been checking up and part of there range is along the coast here. the fisherman said it was about 20 ft long. they say there not to common in inland waters around here because the presense of killer whales, but they are here one time or another. call point defiance boat house I guess.

This is a true story guys. The guy this happened to is a very respected fisherman in the Pt. Defiance area. The flasher that this shark hit is on display down at Narrows Marina. It's pretty cool to see this. According to Fisheries, Great Whites have been seen in Puget Sound waters before although it's very rare. I didn't believe it myself until I talked to him about it. according to: http://www.aqua.org/animals/species/whitshark.html the largest great white on record was 21 feet long, so it would be major news if one that big was actually seen in puget sound.

by the way guys, what about Ray Wallace who died last week? i saw some of his bigfoot castings in a store down near mount st helens a few years ago, everyone though that was pretty cool too back when bigfoot was in vouge.

Ok,I just have to ask this question. When was this thing spotted? This year or last year or 100 years ago. As I went to the King web site and did a search and nothing came up. Or is this thing like a 1985 Henway.

maybe they want to keep it quiet and let it pass thru. my fishin buddy is a butcher at farmer george in port orchard, pig blood galore. gettin some crazy ideas about takin the boat out and chumming it and hopefully seeing it and filming it tomorrow. but it happened yesterday I believe. I got a good bet where you could chum it up down there.

I'm not sure. On the east coast, they swim all the way up to Maine quite frequently. I would imagine the water there is about the same temperature.

Has anyone found anything out about this?

I find nothing at all, which leads me to call BS, but I have been wrong before. (Just don't tell anyone I admitted that.)

20 footer huh... If I had to put my guess on a 20 ft shark in the Sound I'd have to go with a 6-gill, which has had a historical presence in the Sound and is still fairly frequently encountered by divers at locations such as Seacrest in W. Seattle.

But Great Whites supposedly make it up here on occasion...

... or maybe it was a really big dogfish wink

I saw the story on K5 last night, guy seemed pretty convinced it was a white shark. 20 ft. seems like a bit of a stretch though.
Old man, great whites have been caught in commercial nets in Ak. so I don't think PS water is to cold for them.
