It's about time they measure the flow of one of the forks area rivers. I was just checking the river flows and noticed they have a station on the Calawah now. Does anybody know where on the river it is located and when they started recording the flows on this river.

The Calawah Gauge does not transmit any info as does the Hoh gauge. In fact, I believe I heard that it doesn't even record at all period anymore.

On this note. There is the high probability that the Hoh gauge will cease operations due to budget cutbacks.

To keep it going through fall of 2003, it looks like something in the neighborhood of $6,500 will be needed.

I've been in contact with the USGS about possibly setting up a system in which we can fund it. Problem is, it has to be by one entity and not a group of individuals.

I may take this on on behalf of our compnay, but I'm going to need a lot of donations ... both from private individuals and hopefully from local businesses that rely upon anglers visiting Forks.

Well don't I look silly. I go and check the USGS page and all of a sudden there's a reading for the Calawah eek

Nice to see smile

Believe that there has been a gauging station there for more than 100 years; it just hasn't satellite link unitl now. Historical readings are available form USGS.
