i believe the leftist label to be an untrue label that is the result of the teaching of "critical thinking" in college.....which of course is the opposite of reactionary thinking which is embodied by "the right"

critical thinking vs reactionary thinking is the basic difference between the two groups of voters referred to as liberal or conservative- not states rights or smaller goverment or more taxes vs less taxes

Well, lets see. The republicans have managed to double the national debt so far. The entitlement programs will bankrupt the nation in the next 20 years. Spending has increased by one third goverment has grown by a quarter and all this while revenue has dropped by nearly one third. It isn't what the republicans have given us it is what they have given the next two generations. Each and every one in the U.S now owes neartly $80 grand as their share of the current debt, but wait there is more. Every ones share goes to $240 grand when you count in entitlement programs like Mediacare, Medicade and Social Security. So ask again what G. Dumbya and the Republicans have given us. The ship is sinking and G.W. is at the helm

I seem to recall GW proposing a plan to give young workers the opportunity to divert at least a tiny amount (4% ?) of their present SS donation into private retirement accounts. And the Demos gave themselves a standing ovation at the SOTU party for blocking GW's plan..

Personally I believe that, due to our public education system, that "younger" workers are so clue-less as to what is going in todays' world that they are in deep trouble.
