Well... yes there is, when the weather plays nice. I thought I might share some pics of a day not fishing. With that out of my system I can go back to chasing some Springers. Nice day for a ride. Cat rigged. Snow caps and white caps. Whidbey with wind abeam. Headed home. Perfect conditions. Big dumb smile on my face. I'm not a good photographer, but I hpe you can enjoy just the same.

Nice pics. But how come there are no rod holders on your boat?

The last picture shows it, (me). Can't afford the fancy ones for this boat.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

"Bring some scantily clad booty along next time."
The only problem is I have less game than Geraldo Rivera and my cutie hates the salt water. Thanks for the encouragement though, guys. Next time I'll try to photo shop in some cut outs of that new Miss America (insert drooling smiley face here).

What's the manufacturer of the sailboat? I have good luck dragging a coho fly at the outer edge of the sailboat wake.

Chuck, It's an American Mariner 26'. I just bought it not too long ago, and the previous owner didn't use it much, so we're working on making it a little easier to sail, running all the lines aft, adding or replacing blocks, etc. I like it because it has a shallow draft (28") and is easy to launch from the trailer but has about 1400 lb. ballast so it'll get me across the straits to Victoria. Cheap on gas. I haven't trolled from a sail boat, but they're great fun working a buzz bomb or even jigging for flatties. I'll have to try the fly as that's one of my favorite Sekiu methods.
Thanks Stam, I think...I put off yard work to recuperate from the wicked sunburn and tired tiller arms, my neighbors hate me for it too. Oh well, you only live once.

Good boat for Puget Sound. If you go to Victoria, there's a government dock by the Johnston Street bridge that smaller boats can use. Few, if any, dock walkers, more privacy and crawling distance from Swan's. Oak Bay, east of Victoria, is a bit more private also. Short bus ride to main Victoria. We take our bikes when we go to Vic. When I saw your caption "Cat rigged", I thought the boat might be a Nonsuch, which are catboats. After I read what type of boat you have I figured out you had just your mainsail up and no jib. Lines aft are the way to go.

The morning was pretty windy, we were running about 6 mph speed over ground without the foresail. After we stopped and had lunch on Whidbey, we broke out the jib and had a nice cruise on the way back to PT.
I'll have to remember that Victoria dock, thanks for the heads up. We always went to the one just West of the Ferry dock. Usually we go in the Spring to get our licenses for later season Swiftsure fishing. Before I broke the power boat anyways. The thought of going to Victoria on a few dollars worth of fuel seems really comforting right now, and the only fishing I do around Vic is on Constance bank for Halibut (I think I'm too late this year).

We used to tie up in front of the Empress but during the summer there's just too many dock walkers and too many questions to relax. We went to Vic for Labor Day weekend as there is a Classic Boat Festival and a blues festival the same weekend down on the quay. A friend from Sequim usually has his boat in the festival (free moorage if you participate). Party on the boat with live blues music close by - good time.
