The federal government reported last week that the first half of 2006 was the warmest in the United States since record keeping began in 1895. The average temperature for the 48 contiguous United States from January through June was 51.8 degrees, or 3.4 degrees above average for the 20th century.

Is the point that global warming is the cause? Or is this just an observation? Because I thought global warming would cause more moisture in the air, hence more clouds, hence more cooling. There are records of all sorts every minute, day, month, year, etc. And plenty of "I told you so" folks to lay claim. I won't be losing any sleep over this latest record.

I just returned from Vegas... no fish stories. 113 degrees outside of the comfy a/c casinos. Never had my contact lenses dry on my eyballs before! eek

Bought Michael Crichton's novel "State of Fear" at SeaTac for something to read while on layovers. Although fiction, he included a great deal of footnotes referencing technical journal articles and research to support his thought provoking and engaging storyline on both sides of the global warming issue. I give the book two thumbs up!

Now back to planning for some summer chrome on the Holy Cow or bug-rodding on the Yak....

You're assuming our atmosphere will trap all water vapor during the global warming process? Bad assumption considering the earth's magnetic shield, which is responcible for containing our atmosphere is also in the process of polarity reversal. While this happens over the next 250 years, cosmic radiation that penitrates the stratosphere will not only be allowed in, to some degree the contents of our atmoshere will also be allowed to escape.

Is someone using sols name and image? He is remarkably well informed. A week ago when the folks were commenting on drugs in Forks and Sol was providing divine intervention I though maybe CG took over his body like an exorcism maybe?

Very nice, Sol. Very nice. beer

Maybe some of that bad stuff will leak out too along with all that water?

I wonder what has more effect in a large volcanic eruption. The heat effect of the molten lava spewing forth, or the shading effect of the ash blocking the sun?

Aunty, you're the one who chased him off with your relentless descriptions of his narcissistic self. He couldn't take that much truth any longer. Notice he's using the same MO there, circular logic, never addressing direct questions but responding by asking a new question, and insulting the questioner along the lines of what he has previously observed, predicted, or assumed that poster's habits to be? I think he does it as some quirky hobby.

I gave the atmospheric water vapor question a little more thought over the weekend and I was wrong. Since atmospheric pressure decreases with altitude and drops below the Vapor Pressure of water, water molecules condense back into a liquid and fall to the earth in the form of water at relatively low altitude.

If you walked up to a camp fire and there was a fugly loud mouthed lonely woman starving for male attention would you come back?

Well you have and you do so there you are.

Hey Stam, I thought you said TK was going on the Stamfest charter at Westport. True?
