A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!! It explains
things better than all the balderdash you hear on TV.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country
protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of
illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might
protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this
country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I
correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me

in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the
beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors;
I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and
honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must
add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide
other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard
work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that
breaking in part. If you try to call the police or force me out, I
will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that
proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you

have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself.
I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for well, you know. And what
a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about

it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being
anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you

can communicate with me

No kidding this sounds exactly like an ex-girlfriend of mine.

Especially the part about coming over uninvited, paying for her education, food, healthcare, transportation, clothes, and if you try to kick her out she runs and tells all her friends & family what a total jerk you are and they protest by harrassing you daily.

That beatch could scrub the schidt out of a kitchen though.

Our country is fuc%ed-up at the core, dude. Trouble is it's no better anywhere else. If you think our taxes are high, try Canada, Europe or Scandinavia.

What a geat way to paint the whole pro-immigration side, as extremists. I don't know any pro-immigration individual who supports removing the border patrol, forcing US citizens to learn Spanish, and providing to illegal immigrants , without qualifications, all the entitlements that a US citizen in poverty receives. This is what happens when Fox News uses the the loudest, stupidest, most outlandish idiots to represent the voice of the left.

Something does need to change. We spend just enough money to make sure illegals keep their heads down once they get into the US but not enough to prevent them from entering in the first place. Why? Because Republicans support big business, and big business loves cheap labor.

I have a solution. Make it harder to get into the US as an illegal, but easier under work visa's. And then put a special income tax on them that pays for their healthcare, their childrens education, and English lessons. Yes I think they should be able to come in and do those jobs that are hard to fill, but I think they should also pay their own way. Give them a high tech ID card, and if employers don't check with immigration dept that their status is good, whip the employer.


This solves the frustration that people (including me) have with paying services for people who are here illegally, it allows employers to continue hiring for low income positions, and it allows for immigration to keep track of who is in the US.

The one point that I do share with the conservatives is that English should be a requirement for any extended visa, or citizenship. Its so true its become a cliche, "we weren't speaking the same language". Learn to speak the damm language, no matter what country you're originally from. You get 6 months and then I will personally throw you out.

Better yet, start jailing & heavily fining the the Farmers and business owners, CEO's and board members of the companies that hire illegally.

Guarantee illegal immigration would reverse and we'd see alot of southbound foot traffic in Texas once they realized there were no more jobs available and they had to head back to Durango if they want food to eat.

That's why the come, and it's why they stay. Becasue they are welcomed with open arms by the companies, contrators, and farmers that hire them.
It isn't for the great burgers, the nifty stripey flag, and the chance to learn English.

The Senate voted this week to allow "illegal" aliens access to Social Security benefits.

As a farmer if I hire a illegal alien I will get fined , before I can hire anyone I need to check their paperwork and have them fill out a I-9 as long as I do that I am fine but some of the S.S cards and green cards are so well done that even the Border patrol misses a lot I still have to deduct social security and pay L & I and unemployment just like any employer . The real problem is the general public no one cares where their food comes from anymore as long as it is cheap and it is hard to compete with other countries that only pay their workers a couple of dollars a day
